Was contemplating building a new track but after returning from my winter break and giving the twelve year old a run, I said to myself, ``I still enjoy this track``. What's been missing all these years is landscaping, the feature I so admire in other tracks.
Over the years, I`ve had the pleasure of running thousands of laps on Luf`s, a fellow GVSCC member, track creations. My favorite was the long gone upstairs Targa Burnaby, so that was my aim, a compressed three-lane version on an 8`x 12` foot print.
I really appreciated the elevation changes on the original Targa, so that was going to be a feature of mine. Lane squeezes were also in vogue at the time at Luf`s so thinking the inner and middle lanes were fastest, I routed slots for the cars to get in each other`s way.
Today, in preparation for landscaping, the track and table were given a good vacuuming and cleaning.

My favorite part of the layout is running anti-clockwise, from the bottom sweeping up the hill, a two foot rise over a ten foot length, with a small jog to the right into a corner and back down.

With the theme of Land & Sea, a mix of ocean, coastal shoreline and stone cliffs seems appropriate. I`ll throw in some buildings here and there for some contrast.
This will be all new to me so fortunately, I`ve got advice and techniques from scale rail roaders and of course, the internet.
Really looking forward to trying new things and hopefully getting a pleasing scenic outcome.
