  • "Stadium" Lights

Found these at Menards in the Christmas section. 9 bucks. 3 AAA or an AC adapter. On batteries it looks pretty good.

They sure look like they were made for the part! Menard carries enough weight that they have a proprietary line of model railroad structures and accessories. Those would make good floodlights for an O scale yard. Your find caused me to go look - they offer 'em mail order for those outside Menard's territory (keyword "Field Lights.")

If you need a lot of these it will get to be expensive. My HO track has lights for night racing. If you buy LEDs in bulk they are fairly cheap. I also did a stadium style 1/32nd scale light, see this article: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzL...ew?usp=sharing

For someone with a temporary/floor layout, these are better IMHO.

You can MOVE them easily. No extra/permanent wiring.

Just add batteries and you have some lights for a fun evening. Then just as easily put away when finished.

Not everyone wants or can hard wire everything. Heck, I CAN do it and I like these. The ability to move them where I want, where I want is worth the price.

This never was a "perfect" option for permanent layouts.
