  • 14k motors update

    Yeah, changes already....

It's come to my attention that a motor that was allowed is more than 14k, so instead of manufacturer rpm ratings, I will be listing motors I feel will make for good competition. These will be...

Artin White End bell 13k (found in their 1/32 cars, not 1/43)
    Cartrix TX1
    Ninco NC1, NC8, NC11
    Pink Car Power Plus 1
    SCX RX4
    M&T-1 and SL-1
    Predator 12.5

And still, no Jack Rabbit or BWA allowed

Any other motor you feel would be a good one to use, let me know. Perhaps it would be allowed.

Also, you're now allowed to use any drive arrangement in Class C. Figured it might be handy for you guys when building your crazy creations...

Hmmm, you got me wondering. Is there such a thing as a RX4? Is the RX42 the motor I should be referring too?
I know they made a RX42B, and that was rated at around 18k.
Been awhile since I played with SCX motors....(can u tell?)

      Thanks...
Any rating on the RX4 by chance?

I'm not sure if you are talking about a class or a proxy.
We spec the H&R Jackrabbit for our sports car I class, I have tested several and they are all within 100rpms of 14K, some a bit under and some a bit over. All of my BWAs turn about 13K, very comparable to an NC1 or a Cartrix. Most of my Artin white bells turn about 12K. All @ 12Volts I haven't messed with the RX motors much.

Wow, none of mine were ever like that. We have a guy in our group that breaks them in while soaking in WD40. They start out very quick but they might only last for 5 or 6 races. I'm not sure they would last thru a proxy.
My IPS car finished 3rd two years ago, but not as high this last year, but then I think it was shortened a bit. I lost track.

That would be me and all still going strong.... wd40 5v for two hours. Some motors over 1000 rpm increase others just a few 100 rpm. All depends all much binding and alignment of the bushings and how well the brushes take seat. Been doing theses ever since my RC days with the closed end bell motors back in the day. It all crap shoot when it comes to mass production motors.

Jack Rabbits and BWA motors, IMHO, were made to take place of the NC1 since Ninco stopped producing them. And ever since they came out, they dominated anyone running a NC1. The rpm's may be close, but the torque rating is much higher, and this is where they would pull away from a NC1. This has been my experience, and since I'm the one in the hot seat, no Jack Rabbits or BWA's

Let’s just make a rule the motor must be 40k

      What’s wrong with 40k?

Good deal on the motor clarifications and identifying a couple long can options for those of us that may be building "heavy" entries.
It looks like the RX-4 can still be had online even if the MT-5 can't - so I'll be making a purchase of one of those to start the process!
