  • 2020 NEC Corvette Challange in the books

Well that's a wrap! Congrats to all three teams that competed in the 2020 NEC race. Taking down the win goes to the H.O.S.T , NH team second was rewarded to Shoreline club and coming in third was the Northeast Slot car club.
The day went smooth and mostly uneventfully. We had one computer glitch 2 heats and Dicky from the HOST team stepped in and got us on track again, BIG THANKS!!! It was a tight race going into the half way point then the HOST team started to pull away and never looked back. Everyone helped out everyone it was Defiantly a great day with a room full of great people. Before everybody left there was already chatter of anticipation on the next race! Im thinking of having another race around the beginning of November maybe a different format? Ill get with Steve and we will start a new thread so everyone can have some input on what they would like for a fall format.
I would like to Thank first off Steve Sawtelle second Bob Boulais, and Slot Car Corner for Helping out with the Cars and parts. and last everyone that made the trip to make it a Great Race!
    Thanks to all, Glenn

Thank you, Northeast CT club, for bringing back the NEC events. Big thanks to Steve, Glen, and anyone else involved in the planning of this. While there may have been a glitch or 2, it was well run, and I believe everyone had a great time

Getting brand new NSR Corvettes and having each team set them up in the morning added a new element to the event.

And thanks to Slot Car Corner and Quick Slicks for sponsoring the NEC 2020 event

It came with the car so they used it... (I learned something new at the race!)

We had the car on the dyno and were discussing that the shoreline car seemed to have a bit more acceleration on the straight and I thought that a bit more magnet might help, actually increased the RPM about 200 when we dropped it on. Not sure how much it helped, the car was really sweet!

That 200 rpm gain was at the wheels. So figuring in the gearing, adding the magnet to the motor probably raised the motor rpm by around 600-ish....

          NEC CORVETTE CHALLENGE VIDEO LIVE-STREAM

I've included a link to the Race Coverage. The stream quit unexpectedly for some reason, so there is a part 1 and part 2.

I also took the opportunity to do live interviews with:
Steve Sawtelle and Glenn Schlude - event organizers
          The winning HOST team
Jeremy from the No. Conn team
Senior Bob from the No. Conn team
          Smokeio from the Shoreline team

If I had some extra time I'd provide a link to each video listed above, but can't do it now. Just go to Facebook and look up Bob Boulais

          Enjoy!

Big thanks to Glenn for hosting this great event and to participants who set aside a Saturday to participate. Always great to see old friends and make a few new ones. Congratulations to the H.O.S.T. team on their win. As others have mentioned, we need to get together for these events more often.

Good to see the NEC races are still being run.

Those H.O.S.T. guys look a bit grayer, but they sure do win !
