“Zero Grip” Urethane Tires
New “Zero Grip” Tire that I had a chance to use from Quick Slicks. I do not profess to be a reviewer of new products but would like to comment on this new entry into to the tuner market.
Just got a sampling of the new CB32Z and CB33Z Quick Slicks tires.

Observation:
First off, they are of a urethane compound which I believe is a first for this line. Tires are nicely formed. One side with a slightly rounded smooth sidewall, the other flat wall with a slight indentation. I would say for the North America market they would be most comparable to the Yellow Dog zero grip product. Appear to have a Shore rating similar to the YD as well.
Tires were direct slip on and formed to the wheels nicely and very uniform. Overall first impression was very positive.
I put on my Hudy and was able to nicely profile both edges with 600 – 1000 grit paper.
I did a fast testing of slip angle using a SCC Aluminum set up block, using the Slot.it Porsche Jim Beam livery 962C KH, CA 17D model without a guide and compared it to the YD 1402ZG without guide in place and found that I could show that the CB33Z would break free at a lesser angle than the YD. (When looking at the similar tires from Slot.it and NSR I found that you must first true tires before they can be compared due to dimples and finish – Note slip angle was slightly better with Slot.it vs NSR, with the CB33Z just slightly better breaking lose at a lesser angle than both of the aforementioned)
Looking to develop a competitive Slot.it Group C Proxy car so I wanted to use this as my point for comparison. Here are points of reference:
Slot.it AL 24 wheel as baseline, Hub 15.87 mm, Shoulder 13.65 mm and Rim width 8.30*
With CB32Z, OD 19.05mm Sidewall Width 9.15mm Tread Width 8.50 mm

With CB33Z, OD 19.50mm Sidewall Width 9.15mm Tread Width 8.50 mm

With Slot.it Tire Mold 1159, OD 18.15mm Sidewall Width 9.10mm Tread Width 8.25 mm
Slot.it AL Plastic wheel from Slot.it Porsche Jim Beam livery 962C KH, CA 17D model, Hub 15.80 mm, Shoulder 13.50 mm and Rim width 8.40mm
With Slot.it Plastic wheel and Slot.it Mold #1159 OD 18.15mm Sidewall Width 9.20mm
With CB32Z on OD 18.90mm Width 9.15mm
With CB33Z, OD 19.40mm Width 9.15mm
Other tires in Zero Grip format being released by Quick Slicks
CB 17Z for C.B. Design Wheel OD 17.95mm x Width 8.25mm

CB 18Z for C.B. Design Wheel OD 18.45mm x Width 8.25mm

This a quality product from what I see and is almost a direct fit and go product to use. The offerings of different diameters added to that fact that you can easily sand and dress these urethane tires should give the tuner many options. These tires CB32Z will definitely find their way onto my next Proxy entry. Thank you to Mike at Clover Leaf and the team for the development of this new tire compound.
