All these years I have been making shims for TJet magnets out of milk jug plastic, aluminum tea lite cups and so forth. Maybe I should be shimming with lead foil. More weight.

Nice shiny steel is magnetic. Shimming T-Jet magnets with steel can get you in trouble with most groups.

I had some tape solder which probably means it is a 60/40 mix of tin/solder. Two small strips of this weigh .2 grams on my cheap electronic scale. If I could find sheet lead that thin I could more than double the weight of the shims. 😆 That is almost 1/2 a gram!

I finally settled on plain old blister pack. Really a no brainer after the fact.

Comes in different thicknesses. Can be quickly sanded to fit if needed. The price is right, free. It's resistant to oil -n- goo, cleans right up, and thus is re-usable after servicing .
