Apalmer invited a small group of us over for an impromptu bit of racing to test out the rewire of his oval (his daughter's pet rabbit decided the wiring would make a tasty snack while the track was set on edge next to the wall!
)
The good news is - the repairs went smoothly and the track and timing system performed flawlessly after the fix!
Before kicking off the fast action on the repaired oval though, we kicked off a couple warm up races on the 4 lane Palmer Beach road course!

The first race was a new format for us - a race Aronn lovingly named the "PIG Race"
The rules being, everyone was to bring their worst performing car to use for the race.
Where things got really interesting was the format!
Each driver ran a 5 lap shootout in the blue lane to get the "best time" for their car. After all cars were qualified - the best time from the slowest car was set as the breakout time!
Then, to add another layer of entertainment on top - it was a fuel race as well!
To say that this was entertaining was an understatement!
The qualifying numbers were:
#1 - Terry's '69 Camaro - 7.8297
#2 - Aronn's blown '67 Corvette - 8.3453
#3 - Steve's Ford J-car - 8.8383
#4 - my Mako Shark - 8.9003
Pictures from the racing action:

The action was CLOSE with a lot position swapping throughout the race (and I think all of us broke out at least once!)
When the dust settled - the finishing order shook out as:

What a riot!
This was a first time for this type of race and I think with the amount of fun everyone had - it won't be the last!
