  • Favorite chassis/cars to race?

    What's your favorite chassis/cars to race, T-Jets, AFX Magna-Traction, Super MagnaTraction, G Plus, Mega G+, or...and why?

  • #2
Aurora T-Jets, Auto World Thunder jet & Ultra G, AFX Magna -Traction, Auto World X-Traction & Ultra G, T - DASH, DASH Mondo Grip. Basically for the same reason I like what I like in 1/32, easy to drive, not blinding fast, workable/tune able, and a pleasure to watch.

I've always said that if it came down to it, I would have an Aurora Pit Kit filled with Aurora Thunderjet 500 cars and some period speed parts like Aurora's Hop Up Kits and aj's silicone tires. A small Aurora lock and joiner type two laner on a table with one old school 18-20 volt power supply for each lane, some Atlas 60-85 ohm plunger controllers... and the picture would be complete.

IF -- it came down to it... Ernie

Today I enjoy everything from Vibes to Mega G+ cars in various clubs road racing, drag racing, and oval tracks.

          HAPPY NEW YEAR, and... Enjoy!

Happy New Years everyone! I've bought couple NOS T-Jet chassis and some bodies to go on them with stock front tires and silicone rears. Also bought couple NOS MagnaTractions as those are what I recall being the most fun. Got another Magna-Traction enroute.

Ernie just described my return to the hobby two decades ago!

Im not super picky about brand or model. It really depends on the mood. Vibrator Hotrods on washer slicks is like ice racing .... fun. I may grab an early drop arm Tycopro converted to braids for the sheer abandon. There's nothing like an Aurora specialty chassis thats dilaed in. A Magnatraction with a 6 ohm crank, Nacho poly Mags, and silly foams when I want to shred on the pancake experience.

The Road Race Replicas Ferrari GTO does look good.

In HO Fray/SS T-Jets are my favorites along with JL/AW Thunderjets in SS trim.

I also like tjets and magnatractions (and modern autoworld). But I also like 440x2 and tomy turbo (used for F1 and nascar).

Why doesn't my car run like that?

I’ve had hours of fun racing Thunder Jets, AFX Magna-Traction and Tyco 440-X2s. I think the faster cars G-Plus, Tyco 440-X2 etc need a track with a long straight. While a T-jet can be fun on even a small track.

My favorite is "pure stock" class t-jets (with rubber tires) on a road course - what a hoot!
