Brand new, out of the bubble pack. I think I need to contact AW. In fact I KNOW I need to contact AW.

My Mustang was just like that.
I left the plate like it was. If I recall, a slight bend to the plate or shoe got the shoe to function properly.
It’s pretty sad that AW produces stuff like this. A thread on another forum covered quality problems. It’s like they don’t care. Too many people are apparently just collecting the cars, never even taking them out of the boxes. At least the Gen III Cars got better on the later issues, but I even had one of those go up in smoke.

and their prices have gone up starting on the next releases, getting right there with the scaley start cars.

Wow, thats pretty gruesome. Right up against the shaft/bore. Otto Whirled will shrug their shoulders per usual and kindly send you a new one. Their cars are now worth 33 bux, but your time is still worth nothing.

            Whats the inside look like?

X2, OMG both brush contact metal pieces bent to heck, one against the armature bore, stuff looking kinda burnt/melted, unacceptable! Definitely call/email them for warranty, last Scalextric Escort MkI I bought was all kinda messed up and they were like meh, I returned it to LHS and they very graciously took care of me. I see Autoworld car prices are crazy now too. :/

I have not opened the chassis up. Just in case it needed to be returned. And great news! Auto World is going to send me a replacement chassis! I am thankful that Auto World is willing to do that.
And this, "Otto Whirled" still cracks me up. AW should buy that name from MM and use it for their official mascot!

                  Scott,

I cant take full credit. Remember the old bumper sticker that said "Visualize Whirled Peas" ? One of my faves. Odds are there was barely pop or two involved. To their credit AW's customer service has been exemplary.
