The Aurora Thunderjet 500 Ford GT was my first slot car. It came in a small figure-8 set with a Chaparral 2F that I got for Christmas in ‘67. I learned recently from LAMing’s Christmas catalog thread that my small set was a Montgomery Ward exclusive. I always knew it was an exclusive set but I thought it came from Sears. I don’t recall a Montgomery Ward’s anywhere near us, but it was a mail catalog and I was just a kid, so what did I know? I would love to find the box art for that set. Best Christmas gift ever! I still have the two cars from that set despite having five younger siblings. 😄
