This is my second molding and casting project. The car is in 1/20 scale. In real life, these cars were narrow compared to todays standards. The 1/20 scale Daytona is about 3.2 inches wide and 7.8 inches long (about the size of a modern sports car like the Ferrari 458). I selected the 1/20 scale so that the Daytona could run with these modern sports cars in our True Scale Sports car class. Chassis is Scholer with a 2NASTE front end. Below are some images of the progress so far

Guys,
I have no doubt it will come out OK. The question is always durability. I have cast several GT40 Mk IVs and have strengthened these castings with carbon fiber. I will be testing in race conditions. Below is an image of one of the casts. Also you might want to look at a molding/casting post I made on this site. See the link GT40 MKIV in Resin - HRW (hrwforum.com)

Nice work on the castings. As you now know, it's not terribly difficult but you do need to have a master to work from. Nice job.Come Race at The Trace!

I am ready to race this car on Monday. I haven't yet adding the striping. I will do that later on next week. The car will be at a disadvantage to the Sports Cars we run because it is heavier and taller than the sports cars the guys run (mostly Ford GTs and Ferrari 458s). I hope that the guys will get excited about the potential class so we can have a real albeit in scale Ford/Ferrari war. Below are images👍 2Comment

The Ford France Cobra Daytona debuted at a MIxed Race True Scale race at Electron Raceway on 5/3/21. I managed a third in a competitive field. On 5/5 I decided to finish the car. The Daytona rolls under quite a bit in the front. The rules allow the grill to be cut in order to move the guide forward as long as it is not visible from the top. For the race I tucked the flag just behind the grill. In that position it created a relatively short effective wheelbase (distance between the guide and the rear axle). I believed that this hurt handling. I cut the grill and moved the flag forward so that it was about the same position as that of more competitive Sports Cars like the Ferrari 458. This improved lap times by .15 seconds and made the car much easier to drive. I can't wait to race this machine again
I also remounted the windows and added the stripes. Below are a few images
