  • Dan Gurney 1961 Chevrolet Impala

A few months ago I read this article about Dan Gurney bringing a 1961 Chevrolet Impala to England to beat out the Jaguars what an awesome car! Pretty much stock with a few modifications ran so well he was banned from competition the whole time I was reading the article I was thinking what a perfect model for my next slot car Finding the 61 Impala was easy headed over to Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon to pickup up the AMT 61 Impala kit (Originally a Lindberg Kit) I had an H&R Chassis in stock found the color code on www.autocolorlibrary.com code 914 Midnight Blue Poly and ordered a small bottle of lacquer from scalefinishes.com the steelie wheels I found on ebay from forward_resin they make great wheels and they are easy to turn down to use as inserts I would recommend looking at the ones they have good quality stuff. Body and chassis fit together really well the back seat even fit in! just a small piece to fabricate under the back seat then off to the paint shop I'll post some pics when i have some more done.

I just clicked on the link and watched the videos. Great story and sharp looking car. Love that exhaust sound, it must have blistered the paint on some Jags.

That car's gonna sell for a ton of money at auction someday.
