  • 50’s Truck Racing

Prepping for the inaugural Thunder Truck Thursday at Rockmoor Raceway! My wife is a trucker’s daughter and loves vintage pickups, so I built her the 50 Chevy to thank her for her indulgence and the loan of her router, jigsaw and drill when I built the track. It was a little lonely for her as all my other cars were 1/32 racing cars. She has fond memories of bombing around with her dad in a 52 Ford with a rusted out floorboard. He would hit puddles just right and cackle with delight as his front seat passenger got soaked. As this was usually Mary’s bossy older sister, he would give her a wink and smile. So this week I built the red 53 Ford in his memory. First race is tonight.

This has been a static model, then an RC car to tickle the grandkids. It spent some time drag racing as a bracket car. Eventually it became a road racer. Now it is just a tired old truck. Those trucks look like a blast And no doubt your wife appreciates the Ford. Did you put a hole in the floorboard too? Lol
