  • Down the rabbit hole we go...

So, I took the plunge on a Traxxas TRX4 Defender (two speed, separate locking diffs) then I watched a few videos on them and ended up buying a bunch of brass goodies, bead locks and upgraded tires. Oh, boy, what have I gotten myself into now... ?

It's just a harmless little bunny... Yeah, I made the leap.

And I think that was what Alice thought also , that it was just a " harmless " rabbit .

The Rabbit Hole is far deeper and possesses an intoxicating quality of epic proportions. This might not be as serious as some guys I heard about who naively decided to try RC helicopters, but then again it could be.

I refuse to drive RC cars.

Because I will have to buy some.

Why doesn't my car run like that?

I know I'm not one of those guys you're referring to, but... there is truth to your statement. There's nothing like building a mechanical flying machine that looks bad @ss!!! work in progress...

Love it. A guy who comes to mind for me decided to spend a few hundred dollars on an RC helicopter and ended up far deeper down the Rabbit Hole. A 'good' starter setup according to the hobby shop was $1,000 more than he planned on spending. And, since flying machines with rookie pilots tend to crash there were a lot of replacement parts and upgrades. Hopefully, Dogsboby won't have to deal with destructive crashes in the same way.

LoL Just go with it - you're in the hole already, have fun with it! And if you don't know this already, the RC hole is deeper than any others! hehe

Yeah, I doubt he's going to be subject to breaks like flying endures. A rock crawler is going to get scratched up, but 90% of the cost is in upgrades for sure. You can just about see the Sauber Mercedes in the garage behind Airwolf in my second pic - I bought that 1/5 scale car on 5/3/1998 for a grand total (radio, extra parts, tires, etc.) $3241.14 compared to a 1/10 or 1/8 at the time for about $500. Had I bout the smaller scale, over the years would've cost me 2 or 3 times what I paid for the 1/5 scale. Now, that doesn't mean I didn't spend on upgrades, I most certainly did! But I didn't need those upgrades for it to perform and compete! You're locked into buying upgrades on the smaller scale cars just to be competitive!

Dogsbody Let's see pics of the build!

I sold all my land vehicles but I still have seven large scale aircraft, three Spitfires, a Hurricane, an SE5A, s Corsair and a high wing trainer. Even I'm smart enough not to get into helicopters - too many variables.

The "Just a harmless little bunny." is from Monty Python's The Holy Grail.

And yes , the line " harmless little bunny " is from "The Holy Grail " , but we really do not know just what Alice was thinking as she was falling down that hole

The Defender will crawl out of the rabbit hole. But you need to show us pics for proof you bought one....
