Yes, the 'Go-Go Grandma' from the article you posted would have been born in 1898 or 1899. The torch girl Vera was young in the 40's. Each are equally inspiring so one name on my roster can apply to either, or both. Perhaps they will opt to switch off and share driving duties. In Toy Story land many things are possible.

Not sure yet what body, chassis, and paint scheme will be used. Found my decals though, #42 from my spares file.

    Go Vera Go!

Interesting info you found on Vera McDonald from Mississippi. I had briefly looked for additional info on Go-Go Grandma Vera McDonald from Michigan but didn't locate anything. Two interesting women for sure!

Found this tidbit about a Vera McDonald, so now a tribute car definitely has to happen to honor all Vera's.

She became the Women's World Championship Welder in 1943 and then again in 1944. Aunt Vera was touted as, "The pretty blue eyed welder" by newspapers, magazines, and in welding advertisements.

The other cars in my street stock series had better watch out, this gal means business!

Now I may have to build a Vera McDonald tribute car at some point. Only have one car at this time with a woman driver assigned to it. Saw a show once about young race car drivers and one of them was a girl who passed up her senior prom to go racing. Michelle is going to get a wing gal one of these days.

    "The Go-Go Grandma"

This is a fun newspaper clipping that I came across today, seems like a good way to help kick things off here in the new forum's Vintage Slot Cars section. This is out of Royal Oak Michigan and dated April 4 1966.

The Go-Go Grandma, 68 year old grandmother enjoys her slot car racing...
