Good memories. This matches what Dave Kennedy says about how slot car manufacturers used to sell a whole racing experience and not just track and cars. I know if I'd of had that layout back in the 60's I'd be pretending to do the announcing, moving spectators over to the concessions stand to grab a snack, taking drivers to the Red Cross hut after accidents, and practicing making fast laps without triggering those chicane buzzers.

When the cars began having problems brought back memories too. That's when my older brother would say the set was a piece of junk, put his controller down and go do something else. Then I'd spend hours finding and fixing the problems and race solo for a few hundred laps with each car on each lane. That's when I started logging my exploits, a habit that persists. I never let mechanical or electrical problems prevent me from learning and enjoying the hobby.
