  • 1/24 AMT Lola T70

Progress has been slow to say the least, but, ,........the body is finally finished !!

As the kit (1966) was not totally complete, I did have to replace/make a few bits (apologies to the purists ), but , as a kid, I invariably modified most of my slots cars, so I don't feel too bad.

The chassis is a day or two away from being complete , and , I will add a pic. to the post when done.

    Cheers,....and Happy New Year !!

    Chris Walker

The livery is a "fantasy" but looks somewhat appropriate for a 1965/66 USRRC/CanAm car........it is Tamiya "Champagne" gold

The gauges actually ended up looking quite good, but, you would not know it from this shot.

I am thinking of adding a small aluminum rear lip spoiler (already made), but, still deciding.

The wheels are Lola T70 aftermarket wheels Russkit, (also 1966/67 and are 1 piece cast aluminum.........very cool, and gorgeous .

And the unfinished chassis......a bit of bracing, a front axle tube for strength, and a much modified AMT 36D motor. I will update this shot when done.

For some reason , I can edit this post today, where I could not yesterday..........so the attached pic. is the finished chassis.
I will delete my separate chassis build thread.

    Cheers

Man you are good. You even managed to make that crappy AMT interior look good. I have kept one AMT sports racer and it is the Hussein. I ended up putting an old Russkit interior in it and scratch built a chassis of some kind. Bodies are nice, but squeezing a 36 inline in it, just makes it hard to have a nice interior. Your skills always impress me. Just fantastic.

That Champagne Gold is the hardest Tamiya of all to get right. You did great. For those of us who have learned the hard way, congratulations for being patient enough to mist coats expertly. Of all the sprays, and for that matter, in an airbrush, that color and the light yellow are the hardest.

Very, very nice looking car! The chassis is at least as attractive as the exterior.
