  • Cox Ferrari Dino "refurb"

    Yup, ....another thread brought over.......!!

This one is a refurb of a 1/24 Cox Dino........I don't have pics. of my starting point, but, they were not pretty...........

The body is essentially stock...I did make a rollbar, opened up some vents and added screens, and stuck on some aluminum exhaust pipes.

The chassis was cleaned, painted (ouch say the purists !!), and everything was trued /aligned , and ,a fairly well modified TTX150 motor was added.

    Cheers
    Chris Walker

Nice, as always. I wouldn't give a second thought to painting that frame. There's probably only about 10,000 or more of those cars still in existence. Most of these run of the mill vintage slot cars are worth more detailed as you have built it then if they are 100% original.

Looks great Chris, I have a box of things like this I need to start working on as soon as the winter rains get here, which here in Portland can run from November until April some years.

I am partial to the Cox ISO Fulcrum versions , particularly the blue ones. I do have a mag frame version, bit is just a clean car, not a finely detailed car like you guys have done with your cars. Revell made a nice vacuum formed Dino back int he 60's. I found one of those and painted it blue, also. Used the Revell chassis for an endbell 16D motor. It

I have always loved the Dino. It's a beautiful car. My dad had the double Dino kit NIB....and I built it when I got back into slots. And used super glue and messed up the glass......so now I have a runner.

                  Matt.....the blue Dinoracha......very cool.

Not sure if you are aware, but, Professor Motor has repro windshields and headlight covers for the Cox Dino,.......and, ...they are extremely well done !!

Those repro windows are actually done with the original molds.
