Lionel/Scalextric BRM...

Other than the style of pick-ups, the Lionel appears to be simply a slightly cheapened version of the Scalextric model...is this the case?

What kind of motor would a Lionel slot car have in it? Pictures would be great!

I could not find out much about these cars. Apparently Lionel had a deal of some sort with Scalextric. The only pictures of a Lionel BRM catalog #5211 that I could find showed a car with pickup shoes like HO cars use and with the motor fully enclosed in the body/chassis.
