  • Round #2 - The River Run

Cars are expected to arrive from Zack any day now. As soon as they're here we'll set a date for the qualy and the race; I expect it may be towards the end of the 3rd week this month.

    Stay tuned...………..

I'll be looking to see how my cars perform vs last year. That might give me a gauge on what to expect!!!!!!!

The Round #2 qualy is in the books!

22 cars on the grid today:

Bob Bianchi from Slot Car Corner came down today to do the driving honors while I manned the computer.

The qualy was run at 10V using the middle lane of the track. All cars had their braids adjusted before the start (we're still seeing backwards braids on some of the car after shipping) and tires were cleaned on a sticky pad before practice and, again, before their qualy heat. The practice run for each car was 10 laps, followed by a 10-lap qualy run for fastest lap and 10-lap average. The track is routed wood, 3 lane with a satin-texture latex surface.

Here are some pics of the cars taken just before their qualy heats:

Sorry Zack, but the #8 clearly outpaced the #9, so we're sticking with the results as originally posted...………….. haha! Change made - thanks. BTW, your numbers are starting to come off the car...…………. do you have one of the new stealth chips installed in that body...…..?

Well how about that. Both of my cars are a half a second or more faster than last year. The #112 qualified 8th last year and 6th this year. The #1 was 28th and this year 19th. Surprised to see the #112 ahead of so many of the GT40s after the first race. Thanks Allan and Bob. Hope it can race to the podium. Last year the #112 finished 6th.

And...…..Round #2 is in the books!

We ran the race this morning. 3 minute heats with the drivers staying in their lanes for all heats. Tires were swiped on a sticky pad before entering each car into its heats and also in between heats. Here are your drivers: left to right - Josh (manchvegasracer), Jeff (dge467) and Matt (changing.gearz); I ran the computer.

We ran in reverse qualy order, with the fastest qualifier running in the last 3 heats, etc.

The racing was good, with several photo ops presenting themselves as the heats wore on:

And when it was all over and all 22 heats had been run, here's how it shook out in the combined Modified and Production classes, I'll leave it to Zack to post the results, by class, when he updates the score sheet:

                          Position / Car# / Total Laps / Fastest Lap Tie-breaker (if needed)

                          22. / #20 / 66.3

                          21. / #67 / 68.3

                          20. / #17 / 69.7

                          19. / #1 / 71.1

                          18. / #61 / 74.9

                          17. / #65 / 76.5

                          16. / #13 / 77.5

                          15. / 49 / 79.5

                          14. / #97 / 80.1

                          13. / #5 / 80.5

                          12. / #33 / 80.8

                          11. / #19 / 80.9

                          10. / #18 / 81.2

                          9. / # 6 / 81.7 / ( 6.401)

                          8. / #10 / 81.7 / (6.333)

                          7. / #112 / 81.7 / (6.204)

                          6. / #4 / 82.2

                          5. / #63 / 84.2

                          4. / #64 / 86.1

                          3. / #9 / 86.3

                          2. / #0 / 87.0

                          1. / #2 / 87.5

Congrats to the top 3 podium cars: Chris (chrisguyw), Courtney (courtney s) and Zack (zackm)!
