  • Pioneer Legends Race# 1 Ivoryton Raceway

We have a great lineup of experienced drivers for this evening's race plus enough people to record the results and marshal the cars. I will take some pictures and get the results posted as quickly as possible, so stay tuned.

      Best Appearing Car

I was driving the #39 car in the orange lane when it started making groaning sounds and began to slow down. By the end of the heat it was obvious that the car had a problem so the car was oiled before the start of the next heat with little or no effect. The car got oiled again on everything that could be reached without removing the body, again with no effect.

Thanks guys for doing the set up, scoring, posting and driving. If my 39 car becomes problematic, I’d rather sideline it than to have the hosts fight it. I have a box stock Mustang that has the same issue, that now lives in a parts box

That's really disappointing - to be 18 laps down is terrible ! Looking forward to some feedback on the lower placed cars, for future reference.....

But in the meantime - thanks to all involved in putting on the round, and congrats to the podiumites....

I think we can just see you in the far distance......
All the way from Sydney, Australia.......

      Cheers, Tony.

There was some close racing Last night, The guys had fun running these cars. We had 4 drivers that stayed on the lane they picked, and we moved the cars. I (REL13)ran the computer and Sandy (SA14) ran the button and wrote down the results. We ran 2 minute heats at 10 volts. I would like to Thank, Bob, Ray, Dick and Rich for doing all the driving , and Sandy for helping out. They all did a great job.

The cars were run in reverse qualifying order, so the cars in each heat had nearly the same qualifying times and the racing was very close. Often two cars would be side by side for a dozen laps or more. For the last few heats slower cars that had rotated out at the start of the race were back in again and then you could see big differences in the cars.

The series spreadsheet has been updated with the qualifying and race result information.
A little bit of shuffling between qualifying and race results and all three makes represented in the top 5 which is something considering there is only one Dodge in the field!
            Great kick off gents!

Need to make an Official Scoring sticky and attach it to the Legends Proxy thread.

Thanks for the detailed race report. I downloaded it into an Excel spreadsheet and began playing around with it.

16 Chevys earned 223 total pts, while 15 Fords earned 277 total pts. I'm not proposing that Ford Legends are superior to Chevy Legends, just having some fun with the long standing American rivalry.

Congratulations to the podium finishers and all who made this first round possible. Todd thanks for the great spreadsheet. So Martin racing had 2 cars in the top 15 not bad. Hopefully they will race better as time goes on. I may need to speak to my drive train engineer. Then it might have been the tire engineer I think the motor shop did a good job

WOW I just looked the #42 made a big jump from qualifying. 22nd to finish 14th. What a move. The #43 moved up 3 places. I still may talk with my engineers

It only took just a little over 1 1/2 hours to run. We had 4 drivers. 2 minutes on each lane, at 10 volts.

That's great that you're off and running. Well done to all involved.

Just one observation: How about listing the car builders name alongside the entry number? Does Proxy protocol allow for that? '101corvettes' or '34ever1' means nothing to me. So, I'm thinking it might get even more engaging if we were able to cheer or jeer for 'real' people. For example, I only found out yesterday who TuscoTodd is. I've been calling him Tusco for 13 years. Apparently he can build a good car.

I can easy add a column to the scoring spreadsheet - will just need the info!

And thanks for the compliment Jules! I had a great kit for a foundation!

Okay Glenn, thanks. Look like Bob 'Double-B' can build a good car!

In the past it has been customary to refer to proxy car builders by their screen names, in any case often we do not know their real names. That information should be available from a moderator. I could add a column to the spreadsheet that I use, that would have quite a few blanks in the "Real Name" column.

Some folks may not want their ‘real’ names displayed. Would just stick to the Forum names, and if someone wishes to know who they are, let them make contact personally through a PM.

Thanks to everyone involved in the race. As the owner of the 24th place finishing #44 Ford Coupe I'm stoked we kicked butt regarding our team car the #69 Chevy sedan. The bowtie guys will be buying dinner tonight while us blue oval dudes kick back and enjoy.

We're well aware all we needed was a 23 car pileup in front of us to claim the win. Bring on some Daytona or Talladega action!
