    2021 TRANS AM O2 PROXY

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RULES CAREFULLY!

    BACKGROUND:

This proxy pays tribute to the glory days of the Trans-Am racing series. As such, the goal is to race cars that appear as scale representations of cars that raced or could have raced in the TRANS AM SERIES 1966-1976. Accurate reproductions of real cars are encouraged; however, fantasy liveries are allowed and may utilize any paint and decals as long as they have racing numbers (on doors, hood, trunk) and look period correct. Please note Trans Am cars had minimal sponsorship decals and decoration until the 1970 season.

    ELIGIBLE CARS:

Cars that participated in the Trans-AM Series in the O2.0 class during the 1966 through 1976 seasons. Examples are Mustangs, Camaros, Cougars, Corvettes, Firebirds, Javelins, Barracudas, Challengers, Falcons…

Visual references of these cars can be found at the excellent Racing Sports Cars website: https://www.racingsportscars.com/championship/Trans-Am.html

    INITIAL QUALIFYING:

Entries will be limited to 27. If we go above that number, a shoot-out event will be conducted at Round 0 and only the top 27 qualifiers will continue on into the series.

Cars that fail to qualify will be returned to their respective owners with constructive criticism about the cars performance.

    RACE FORMAT:

Each car is to be raced in a fair and equal manner and subject to the same track conditions. Lane and driver assignments to be determined by track host. Track voltage will be set at 10 - 12 volts and shall be equal for all cars.

Finishing order for each round of the proxy will be determined by distance covered within a fixed amount of time.

Cars shall be raced a minimum of 3 minutes per car per lane on not less than 3 lanes.

    SCORING:

Scoring for each round will be on a high points system, with the winner earning a point number equal to the number of cars in the field and each position below that earning one less than the car above it.

One point will be given to the Top Qualifier (TQ) at each round.

Final standings will be based on the accumulation of total points earned during the series.

    TRACKS:

This series will run upon 10 tracks in the USA and Canada. A list of participating tracks and a tentative schedule will be provided on a separate thread at a later date.

    INSPECTION & REPAIRS:

A running inspection of cars is to be made before and after each race by track hosts. Cars may be cleaned, lubricated and tires sanded or scuffed if needed. The only tire cleaning allowed is tape rolling. Minor adjustments, such as lubrication, adjusting the braids, checking for free-turning front wheels, replacement of loose guide wires, etc. (all routine maintenance) may be made by the track host crew prior to the car being raced without penalty. If a car breaks during a race the track host may repair it under a red flag, but the car will have a 3 lap penalty assessed against it. If a major repair is required, the track host will contact the car's owner to determine if the damaged car will be sent home for repair between races. This will be done at the car owner's expense. Car is to be forwarded to the next event also at the owner's expense.

    BODY:

Bodies must be made of injection molded plastic or cast resin and must be 1/32 scale.
Lightweight interiors are allowed but must be 3 dimensional and painted to show at a minimum the driver’s head, shoulders, arms, steering wheel, dash, and roll bar.
Car numbers are available on a first-come/first-served basis and must be unique for each car (no duplicate car numbers).
Tires must be fully under the fenders when viewed from above. Tires may NOT project beyond body work when viewed from above. Bodies may be realistically flared if proven the car ran that way in T/A from 1966 -1976. No Group 5 bodies.
Clear window material must be present on both windshield and rear window at a minimum and may be vacuum formed.
Bodies must be easily removable to allow inspection and photography prior to the first race, if necessary, and to allow maintenance and repair during the race series.

    CHASSIS:

Chassis may be stock, aftermarket, scratch built, or 3D printed.
No exposed weight may be added below the chassis.
Underside of car chassis and body must clear track road surface (not rails) on level track by 1.5 mm minimum.
Car owner name must be noted on underside of car.
Guide must be entirely under body and NOT visible when viewed from above.
    Traction magnets are NOT permitted.
    Bearings are NOT permitted.
All chassis MUST be mounted like an RTR car - meaning screws through the chassis to body mounting points and no pins THROUGH the body, Velcro, etc. However, a chassis with side mounts such as the HRS can be used - as long as the pins do NOT go through the body.

    GEARS:

ANY aftermarket gears and ratios may be used.

    MOTORS:

Any FC-130/S-Can or FK-180 motor rated by the manufacturer to be 23k or lower @ 12v is permitted. Only stock motors as they come from the manufacture are allowed. Motors may not be opened or manipulated.

    TIRES:

ONLY RUBBER TIRES ARE PERMITTED. Absolutely no urethane, silicone, or sponge tires. Tires may be cleaned with lighter fluid or the like, but no tire preparations (oil soaking, etc.) is permitted.
Nail polish or clear coating of front tires is permitted
Tires shall measure 11.0 mm or less as measured from inner to outer sidewall. Tires wider than 11.0 mm will not be permitted.

    WHEELS:

ANY Plastic or aluminum wheels NOT nominally larger than 15mm x 11.0mm are permitted.
Aluminum insert wheels must have period correct inserts. Blank wheels are not permitted.

    HOSTS:

If you would like to host - please contact Fast Co. here on the forum via PM.

In addition to conducting the race, each host will be required before the race to conduct a qualification of each car, driven by a single driver, one and the same, for all cars for a minimum of ten laps per car or until the driver feels as if he has gotten the fastest possible lap from the car.

Each host will be required to create an online thread specific to their round in the sub forum O2.0L Trans Am Proxy - 2021 within 24 hours of each event to include the following:

    1. At least one photo of the full field of cars on track.

    2. A written report of damages, if applicable.

    3. A written report of the qualification results including a fast lap time for each car and comments about the performance of each car.

    4. A photo of the top three qualifiers on track.

    5. A written report of the race results to include as a minimum a brief descriptive narrative of the event, the total number of laps completed by each car, and the number of points awarded to each. A breakdown of laps by lane is encouraged but not required.

    6. A photo of the podium finishers on track.

Optional - Live streaming of the qualifying and race events is highly encouraged but not required.

    CONCOURS:

The host of the final round will conduct a Concours event. The Concours will be judged by the drivers of the last race. The cars will be judged based on their fit and finish, scale realism, and vintage flair.

If you wish to enter this proxy and your name is not already on the registration list in post #1, please enter in a post below.

Interest in this proxy seems to be very high. I am limiting the number of entries to 27. If we go above that number, I will conduct a shoot-out event at Round 0 and only the top 27 qualifiers will continue on into the series. The remaining cars will be returned to their owners with constructive criticism about the cars performance so the owners may improve their cars for future events.

Man you guys are like ducks on June Bugs. I see both of my Cuda numbers are taken so I'll have to go with the #89. Maybe I'll paint that blue and white Cuda and make it #53. So #89 and #53 if possible.

Did you sell that car to me? I may have another body under the steps. I have 2 #48s and 2#42s but I can't see myself stripping those. Who knows may try a Challenger or Camero. Did I say Camero

There was a previous thread created by another member to announce the hand-off of the proxy to me. I hadn't officially opened registration, but 15 guys had jumped the gun and put in request to register. So rather than turn them away, I deleted this thread and created this one so I could maintain control of the registration and include the regulations for the proxy in the same thread. It's all above board and doesn't matter anyway, because I'll accept as many requests as I get. And as said in the regs, a shoot-out will be conducted in Round 0 and cars that do not make the cut will not continue on in the proxy.

              You're on the list.
