This way of stabilizing the long front motor shaft is a very cool idea!

Very cool build! Are you doing gear reduction in the center or just 1:1 to offset the shaft for something?

I guess I should figure out what I am building....

7t pinion both ends, runs smooth. I wanted to be able to remove the motor which wouldn't be as easy with a spring on the shaft.

I built a Ferrari 250 SWB for this proxy. Resin cast Shell with a Brass Inline. I am using the H&R Jack Rabbit for power.

Will have to mount and true the spec tires once they arrive

After driving clubmate Wayne's Merc, front engine, spring coupling extended transmission and how much smoother and quieter than my Corvette, I've ditched the trans axle and gone the flexy coupling too...its super quiet and smooth now.
I've tried the Ninco motor in the photo, BWA NC1 (which revved to 12.8k initially but after a bit of running in revved to 13.5k) and now it has a Jack Rabbit in which is 14k straight off the bat. Gearing started too low, now currently 10:25 with 20.5mm tyres. Yes a 14k is slow but not much slower than you'd think and can be driven all night even on skinny 7mm Ninco tyres.

                Would these bodies/cars be legal?

I can't really remember but think the first one #6 is a Cooper Ford or maybe King Cobra. It does have a Ford decal behind the engine on the body.
The second one in the foreground is a Strombecker body, pretty sure it is a Ferrari (365 P2). It looks like it maybe had a roll hoop where the two holes on the top of the rear deck are. Is it legal to race like this? Is there anywhere to find the missing roll hoop and windscreen glass?
                Thanks.

I checked out EJs. They do have the windscreen and headlight covers for a reasonable $4.95 but there is a minimum order of $20 plus shipping plus they only take USPS Money Orders, so not a good option for me. Anyone else know where I can get a windscreen for this body? Otherwise I guess I need to renew my search for a body that fits the chassis or hope a P2 shows up on ebay in the near future.
                  Thanks!

I found these photos of a variant of the 365 P2 with a roll bar instead of the roll hoop, but where could I find glass? This version the glass is more cut down than the ones with the roll hoop.

I have actually been considering entering my PPP car.
                Or maybe the Lister.
                Or perhaps the Sunbeam Tiger?

                  slim can motor 10/24
Did some testing on my home track. car felt under powered with the slim can motor, installing a jackrabbit 14k but have clearance issues with the interior, removed stock interior and installed vac-formed one but still had clearance issues. so it looks like im stuck running the slim can. maybe some more run in is needed on the motor

                    Doc,
I've used several of those slim-can SLT/1s in proxy cars. there are best described as sluggish. They work best in a small light car like a bug eye sprite. Usually they have their own class where they race each other. They won't compete against the FC 130 motor, You could try an offset pod to try to lower the motor a bit more.
I've used that body on several builds but am unfamiliar with your chassis.
I have a spare universal 3D chassis that will fit that body with a FC 130 can motor if you want to give it a try.
