The cars arrived at my place today and the shipping carton looks to be in excellent condition.

I will have time tomorrow to inspect the cars and report my findings.

I'm not sure yet which track we will race these on, but it will most likely be either SlotZuka or if temperatures are not too cold, my own Woodland Trace Raceway . I will discuss it with SCANC this week.

    Cheers,

Thanks Steve, loved how you stayed with the naming protocol when you started the thread!

Looking forward to round #4. Can you please also post any comments/updates on the cars that need repair, I think #4 is one.

Thanks Chris. I'm trying to keep things consistent.

I opened up the case of cars and Aloha's #4 car was missing its rear body screw. The body post did not appear damaged. I replaced the screw with one of my own and ran about 16 test laps before the body screw fell out again. So, I put a little silicone sealant in the rear body post and ran another 20 laps with the car and it seems to be ok. I will inspect the remaining cars and report on my findings tonight.

Rob and I will qualify the cars tomorrow evening. I will post the qualifying results within 24 hours of qualifying, probably sooner.

I sent a text out to our motley crew of SCANCs to see when we might be able to run the race. I will post the anticipated race date as soon as I know it.

We will race these cars at Woodland Trace Raceway.

Best of luck to all contenders!

No problem at all Dale. It was an easy fix and the car is running very well. It will be competitive.

I just completed a visual inspection of all cars and ran each car for a few test laps without timing software. I cleaned the tires on each car and had to adjust the braid on two cars that had their braid slightly misaligned. Easily corrected.

Two cars, #13 and #84 were missing drivers side mirrors. I only mention this because these cars had mirrors on the passenger side. I did not find the mirrors in the shipping carton.

Other than that, there were no issues with your cars. They are all race-ready.

On the whole, these are some very fast cars that scream down my front straight and stick like glue in the corners. A small number were a little loose in the corners, but I will save my comments for the qualifying report tomorrow.

This is going to be a very competitive race!

I'll provide comments and qual times tomorrow evening.

      Good luck to all contenders!

      Looking forward to qualifying.

While we await the results, feast your eyes on this beauty from Slot. It, the Nissan GT-R GT3! Looks like we will have another car to add to the eligibility list, and since it's from Slot. It, it should be a great runner.

Round 4 qualifying is in the books and I have to say it was very, very close. Only one one thousandth of a second separate the car on pole and #2 on grid. Likewise, only one one thousandth of a second separate the cars that are 3rd and 4th on grid. Fantastic!

The race results may look very different from the qualifying results as some of the fastest cars had difficulty negotiating turn 1 - a very slight left hand bend that comes right at the crest of a small 2" rise. Our drivers will have to refrain from going balls-to-the-wall down the front straight with the fastest cars, lest they either upset the cars going into the Andretti Hairpin or worse, deslot and hit the tire wall. Here's where some of the cars that qualified a little further down, but that can stay stuck down may have an advantage in the race.

It will be interesting to see how this race goes. Looks like we should be on for tomorrow night.

Congratulations to the top qualifiers and best of luck to all entrants.

        Cheers,

        Steve

Not to worry. Here's a short slow-motion video taken last June of a GT car driven to intentionally hit the tire wall (twice) to show the effect of the impact. Notice that he tires have a good amount of give to them as does the masonite wall behind it, but for the race tonight I will roll up a small towel and place it in front of the tire wall to give your cars even more protection.

Congratulations Sir ChrisGuyW, Sir F1Fan and Squire Rossko. It's looks like a tight battle brewing. Can the big V 10 get through turn 1 without pushing, will the Widowmaker be able to hold the turn without lifting to attempt to catch America's oldest sports car? We will see. As for the 33 thank you for qualifying it at its best. I'm way comfortable with a consistent 6.0xx lap versus attempting a 5.xx during the proxy and keeping this spot for the finish. Thank you for qualifying Steve and the notes, I can't wait for the results. Good Luck to all the builders tonight.

You are certainly on top of this proxy for us. Great to see the top two qualifiers break that 6 second barrier, from what I hear those are some great times.
Apologize for #4 trying out for the olympics with a new floor routine focusing on tumbling and somersaults. Please just ask your accomplished drivers to ease off a bit and maybe just maybe it can finish with a 9.5 by the judges...guess I am thinking ahead to the olympics as this GT3 proxy that Chris and you have all put together are of that caliber.
In all seriousness there are some amazingly close groupings in your qualifying run. A tip of the hat to Chris, F1 and Rossko.
Best of luck to all and may your drivers and marshals have a great time with these cars.

Two roll twice and qualify 4th means you have an amazingly hot car there Dale. Congratulations to the qualifying podium. Good luck to all the racers.

Yes. The thing is a lightweight rocket. If our drivers can restrain themselves from overdriving the car it may finish on podium. But there are a lot of other cars with slower qual times that are very stuck down, so it will be interesting to see how the racing goes.

                • #13
Dang that's close!! I think I need those two points more than CW, can you be bribed?

Steve thanks for qualifying, appreciate you keeping this proxy going at a steady pace. Like Aloha said, racing at 9/10's and staying in the slot will make the cars maximize their potential and distance. Always hard to get the drivers to hold back and be restrained in a race, but I am confident you will run another excellent round............a bit slower = more laps! (Adding the towel is a great idea)

                  Good luck to all

Last round it was mentioned my car rear tyres were not glued, could you check them please. If allowed am happy to take a penalty and have them re glued

If a piece of a tyre came loose it can be repaired, if the tyres were not glued to begin with, then gluing the tyres now would be considered an upgrade and incur a penalty.

In this case the tires were glued and just needed a to be re-glued in places. No penalty incurred.
