  • Ford vs Ferrari Proxy - Final Results and Prizes

The Ford vs. Ferrari Proxy has to be one of the longest running proxies on record. We started in March, 2020 and finished up in March 2021.

Of all the proxies running last year, this was the one that launched right into the teeth of the COVID-190 pandemic and the result of that timing was a series of stops and starts as track hosts scrambled to find ways to deal with their commitments to run a Round for us. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our hosts - you guys made it happen - and in the end, we all had fun racing our 1966 Le Mans model cars against each other. Henry against Enzo - just like it was almost 55 years ago now.

And - when the smoke cleared and the viruses were successfully dealt with - history did not repeat itself! The little custom shop from Maranello, Italy came out ahead of the legion from Detroit - but not by much..............

We had prizes donated for this proxy by Slot Car Corner and Home Racing World and the last of them just arrived today. From SCC we got the Slot.It #5 Ford GT40 and the #21 Policar Ferrari 330/P3 and from Home Racing World we got the Scalextric #9 Ferrari 412P.

Here's a pic of your final series podium:

    And the prizes behind them:

To the #21 car goes the Scaley #9 Ferrari 412P, to the #33 car (BrumosRSR) goes the Slot.It #5 Ford GT40 and to #38 car (dungeonracer) goes the Policar Ferrari 330P3

And for everyone that raced in this series, your host and Slot Car Corner teamed up to provide each of you with some new, or at least additional, horsepower options for your next build - one of the new Predator 22,500 rpm ball bearing motors - very appropriate for this particular proxy, which had a 23,000 rpm motor limit. So, enjoy them - everyone certainly earned them over the past 12 months!

A big thanks, again, to our sponsors - Slot Car Corner and Home Racing World - to our track hosts and to all of the racers who participated!

I'll be shipping your cars back to you starting this week - don't forget to look inside your box for the new Predator 22,500 motor.

    Until next time..........

    Allan

Allan, a round of applause to you for not only getting this proxy off the ground, but also to keep it plugging along through the pandemic.
Thanks to SCC and HRW for the prizes
And as Allan said, big thanks to the hosts and drivers throughout this proxy. And also to all that entered a car and made this a very exciting proxy.
Audi1, congrats on putting the Ferrari on top. You made a great running car from 2 different brands, not an easy feat.
BrumosRSR, try as it could, my #38 couldn't quite catch you there at the end. Congrats.
After finishing 9th at the first round, it was fun to watch my #38 work it's way up to 3rd at the end. It really liked the tracks up in BC for sure. Best of all, it beat that Smokeio guy. Now I gotta go find my "I Smoked Smokeio" shirt....

Dickie, I’ve been trying to follow this with words and I can’t. Very well written and my sentiments exactly. This was a dog fight 2-6 and all I could do was look in the rear view as cars kept getting bigger and bigger and then you hope for the finish line.
To all the builders, I hope you had fun and I look forward to our next chance to compete. Audi1 congratulations and again, pure genius combining a beautiful body with an outstanding chassis. And thank you for organizing and acting as race director.

Allan - thanks for quarterbacking the proxy and thanks to Slot Car Corner and HRW for the prizes. Cudos to everyone who entered. How could you have more build up for the proxy than to have a major motion picture release hyping it up!

many thanks to everyone involved in making the FvF a great success, Hosts, drivers, marshals, sponsors, entrants and Co-Ordinater Allen for navigating through all that has happened in the past year.
Congrats to those up on the podium, well done.
Happy to be midfield considering the bad start with the damaged pod during transit. Looking forward to the next edition

And another BIG Thank You to all those involved with running and competing in this proxy, great to have proxy racing still happening with this terrible Covid around us all.

Thanks Guys - it was another cool series.

I know CanAm and Trans Am are just around the corner but is there anything planned to start after they get underway? (asking for a friend)
