  • Race #4 Bent Tree Raceway -Modernslots

The F-1 cars all look great! Race #4 will be run on Bent Tree Raceway - a 90' CNC routed mdf track with 4" lane spacing. I've hosted some proxy races on this track with the name of OFIR ( Old Fart International Raceway). My original track had that name until it was taken down to make room for this one. It is now rebuilt and has reclaimed its name.
Members of my club, SCANC, ( Slot Car Addicts of North Carolina) will be driving the cars and I'll be race director. I'm hoping to live stream the race if there is enough interest, and we can get it working, so let me know if you like that. I plan on qualifying the cars later this week and holding and the race the first week of March at the latest. Photos of track to follow.

We now have the schedule set for Round 4 at Bent Tree Raceway in Winston-Salem NC!
Qualifying will be held this Sunday and the race will be Wednesday @ 7:00 EST. I'll confirm if we are streaming live or not after a test run. SCANC club members are pumped for the event

Qualifying completed! Steve Acesta (Fast Co.) was the driver today. The cars were inspected for proper braid condition and tires were cleaned. Qualifying was in the Blue Lane and 10 laps were run for each car. Results and comments:

8th CJ74 - #14 Easy to drive Good speed Could race better than qualified 9.142

7th MOV41T - #8 Fast but loose handling Chatters when pushed Will it race this fast? 8.955

6th Midgekid- #15 Very balanced Stable when pushed Strong brakes-something binding? 8.924

5th Audi1 - #19 Smooth and handles well but lack of drift can cause deslots Drive carefully! 8.852

4th Modernslots #44 Lots of speed and smooth but a bit loose Likes the long straight 8.796

3rd ChrisguyW #17 Incredibly smooth and quiet Can deslot easily however 8.719

Congratulations to the podium finishers. I wonder what is now making my car so easy to de-slot. Don't recall that being a problem last year. Maybe I better go read last years comments.

Last years comments were mostly chatter on acceleration and light weight. 2020 car is 3 grams heavier. Must be to far in the rear. Chassis engineer to be engaged upon return.

Arnoldn - Not to rag on my buddy's Steve's driving skills but I drove your car for 10 laps this morning and didn't deslot any. Steve was just going for a fast lap and driving a lot of different cars one after another. Not much time to adjust. I think your car may race better than it qualified. Don't hire that engineer just yet.

OK I'll hold off on interviews. Still .59 secs off the pace. May need to get with my drive train engineers and or motor shop.

              RACE NIGHT!
We plan on starting at 7:00. I didn't get any feedback on streaming the race on Facebook. Would you racers rather have photos of the action, or be able to see the race live and/or later on Facebook?

I will not be able to watch live. But if it is saved that would be nice.

It will be my first attempt at streaming other than a trial run, but it hopefully will be both live at 7:00 EST and then saved on my timeline. Search for Rob Fowler, and my photo is my handsome face with a silver and black dog licking it.
Winston-Salem NC if that helps find me.
We'll be running at 10 volts and cleaning tires between heats. More to follow.

                  Aloha.... 1st- / Q1 / 79.9

Lots of close racing during the heats and lots of changes from qualifying to race results. That is except for series leader Aloha who qualified on the pole and finished in first Congrats Dale!
Leadfinger fell in love driving my car in the white lane and put down the fastest lap of the race, so my car gave Dale a run at least.
Watching Chris's car it seemed to handle the best, but lost some time to the leaders on the 16' front straight.
Our club had a blast driving all the cars and while we had a couple of issues getting started with the Facebook streaming, I guess it went OK. I hope you guys can find it and watch the part when your car is on the track.
Podium photos and a few more tomorrow.
