  • 2020 Winston Cup Road Course at Koolau Motorsports

The qualifying and race have been run.

Was interesting to see the two models of cars handle the road course quite evenly although a slight advantage went to the Chevys.

It was fun to drive the different cars but soon found out that certain cars were not set up to turn right. This became apparent in the race when you began to push the cars into right turns and another note was soft brakes did not work well on the tighter more technical parts of the track.

We will be removing the road course section and replacing with the oval straight attachment and aim for next week. The section highlighted is removable.

Flag on the Play; Home field advantage!!!!!! Just kidding Dale. Congratulations on your win. Thanks to you and your team for running this round. Was Lance there????
Way to go Ray in Second and Robert in 3rd. I got a 5th with the #42. What happened to my #43? It may be setup more for ovals. We'll know for sure next week. The #42 is basically stock. Motor and pinion gear change only. That was a surprise. I just looked at my spec sheet and the #42 is geared 11/27 2.45:1. The #43 is geared 10/28 2.8:1. I would have thought the #43 would have had better braking to handle the road-course. Shazaam. Go figure.

Two Gator powered cars on the podium

We could tell which cars were set up for oval tracks. Some of the cars did not like right turns. Most deslots were on right turns. 2 or 3 of the cars would not turn right. On 1 car, the deep guide was just in the slot and when it transferred weight on the turn, it would slip out of the slot.

Rob yes but it lacks the technical elevation changes that tracks like yours has...Dale

Fancy finding you both together here like this. I'm basically stalking both of your tracks. Or at least Aloha's current and Cgyracer's former. I love the tilting format of the old Quail Ridge Speedway. Also love the convertible oval/roval at Koolau Motorsports. Still making room in the garage, so it will be some time before I get started. Hopefully someday I can stand up a tilting oval/roval here. Thanks to you both for the inspiration.
