  • GT3 Slot Car Proxy - Round 9 Niki Laudaring

The cars arrived yesterday and the box looks in great shape, hard to believe this is it's 2nd round the world trip!

Alwyn has very kindly agreed to help me run this round, and if all goes as planned we will be racing on Saturday May 8th, with a start time around 11am PST. Plan is to stream live, watch this thread for additional details.

I am hoping to qualify the cars Thursday evening around 7pm'ish, streaming tentative and TBC, but again watch this space for notification.

Good luck to most of you!

    Chris

Thanks for hosting our 9th GT3 race. The track will most definitely be very rubbered in. A good test for our cars.
I love the "bright" F1 colors on your track.
    Many Thanks!

Hopefully, the #33 loves this track as much as it did in round 0. Thank you SirF1Fan and SirSuperslab for hosting and being the wheel men for the round. Good Luck to all the builders. .....yes even those a few points ahead of me as I’m having a blast watching and thinking about what SirCamber and Sir Gascarnut have up their sleeves for 2022!

Nice looking track! Should be a fun race - it certainly has one of my two favorite F1 names behind it. The other one being the Brazilian driver that you use as your forum avatar.

Looking forward to the qualy tomorrow and the race this weekend. Good luck to everyone!

Beautiful short track! I think my Turbo Diesel Corvette is going to like it here. It will be a good race for sure!

That little Turbo Diesel is fast everywhere.

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind comments. The track flows nicely and there is room on the shoulders, much more suited for racing than my old track. Getting the perfect lap, requires a bit of finesse, but the two places that matters most, are the esses and the constant radius corner to the right of the driver's station. Being able to accelerate hard and early into the short straight before the pits, can gain you at least a tenth or two.

Although the track does not see much racing action, except the in the well rubbered-in middle lane, I will make sure the other two lanes are in tip top condition for the race on Saturday.

I never thought about that being Senna in your avatar

        • #7
It's actually Senna's cartoon character; which I think was called "Senninha" or "little Senna"............... He was much more than a fast F1 driver and cared a lot about the culture and development of kids in his country.

Allan is spot on, lot's to say about Senna and his contribution to F1 and Brazil, but I was such a fan of the man, that I gave my oldest son Ayrton as a middle name. My younger son has Clark as a middle name, a driver I never got to see race, but another racing legend.

Chris and Allan ... first Jim Clark is my all time favorite. Ayrton was amazing in so many ways. I was fortunate one day to run into Roger Penske's photographer in Miami and he shared some of his now famous pictures of the day Ayrton tested the Penske Indy car...they are a prized possession. Also note that if you are in to collecting please see the Senna Collection of fine writing instruments by Montegrappa...a story for another day. So Chris i am doubly fond of your presenting the middle names to your two sons.

Update, qualifying for this evening is still tentative at best, a presentation that's due tomorrow morning might interrupt my play time.

Made some time and it was a pleasure to drive your excellent cars, and Dale your wish is my command!

**car #15 = Austin (apologies for missing the name, the car was missing from the sheet that I printed for reference)

I also neglected to record the times for Lance, if someone can make note of it from the video, please post. I will update the spreadsheet.

Thanks for squeezing in the qualy, Chris. Glad that you're able to balance your vocation and avocation priorities correctly.............

Congrats to Leon, Doug and Rob on their top 3 qualy results. BigDuhg is really making a move as this series approaches the end - nice!

Congratulations Heli_ca! Getting a time under 4 seconds is super fast on that track. Big Duhg congrats on your second, you must really really like the Western Canadian tracks!!

Aloha really has turned it on after the Eastern USA swing too!

F1Fan thank you for running qualifying in your busy schedule. Great job.

Thank you Sir F1Fan for either procrastinating or putting in work to get qualifying in. Sir Heli_ca, looks like you locked this one up if you finish where you start. Looks like BigDugh has a head start for a fast car next year as it has been very strong. And SirCgyRacer great job closing out the podium. Aloha and SirF1Fan the consistency has been incredible. Looking forward to the race for 6-10th if it wasn’t interesting before now it’s a nail biter. Good Luck to everyone on Raceday and Chris with your presentation today.
