  • 2021 CanAm - New Sheriff in Town

I'm very pleased to be able to inform you all that the 2021 CanAm Proxy will be directed by Superslab (Alwyn)! He has agreed to step in and take over the organization and management of this event for all of us; which is great news for everyone! His organizational capabilities and communication style will, I think, be very well suited to this event; which features cars that we all love to build and race.

Soon he will be posting the Rules and Registration thread for this event, so be on the lookout for more information on this sub-forum coming from your new Proxy Director.

I'd like to personally thank Alwyn for assuming the stewardship of this event and I know it will be a huge success going forward. I'll be involved in transitioning this Proxy and will be available, as needed, to help out with things that may come up from time to time.

So, get ready to fire up those 1,000 hp engines again, because the CanAm Proxy Race is coming back to town!

Thanks Allan for all you have done previous and taking care to find a new director for this Proxy. Alwyn thanks for volunteering to take on this task. I only raced in this Proxy last year and it’s a great field of cars.

Thanks guys. Allan, you have set a great standard on this so it is a bit daunting for me to try and maintain that level. This will be a first for me so I ask you all to be gentle with me as I try to figure out what to do and how to do it! Please bear with me for a bit as I gather my thoughts to start the conversation going.

Thanks Allan for your work on this proxy. I never do well in it, but the cars are some of my favourites.

I am looking forward to 2021. I am hoping my new track will yield better testing and better cars.

I will be looking forward to Alwyn’s comments as he takes the reins of this proxy.

          Cheers

The King is dead, long live the King!

Allan you have done a Yeoman's job running multiple proxies, including resurrecting the CanAm, thanks for the memories and all your time and effort.

Alwyn my friend, I am looking forward to your reign, your attention to detail will help to ensure this event will remain one of the most prestigious events on the proxy calendar.......I assume the rule book (aka War & Peace) will be published in several volumes....

Thanks Alwyn for taking over. I’ve hosted this proxy in the past and looked forward to competing. I know there are some entries on the older thread, but please put me on the list - car and # TBD.

Who can give me the definitive answer on what cars are going to be allowed.

I have a fantasy Lotus 19 with a Ford V8 built, a Ferrari 350, and was thinking of building a Porsche 908-2. All of these cars competed in the Can Am series, but the exclusion list confuses me somewhat as the Alfa T33 , Porsche 917-10 do not seem to be allowed even though they did compete. A Lotus 19 competed in 1969 and placed 16 th

I guess my fall back is the Ferrari 350, but on my new track the Lotus is considerably quicker so if allowed I would probably send it in if we were mailing cars off today. If the 908-2 is allowed ,I might build a new chassis incorporating some new tweaks I have been working on and send in a Porsche.

                      Cheers

                        Hi Dan

Not having participated in this proxy I am still trying to figure out my top from my bottom! I will review/discuss and advise ASAP.

Thanks. All I know is I won’t be sending in a McLaren or a Lola. 😄
