  • Smoothing things out....

Having requested and received a file for printing, I was immediately reminded of a video I had seen literally hours prior to receiving the files. I have a feeling there are other files that would benefit from some of these tricks....

An excellent source for anyone learning this 3D malarkey, he covers probably everything we'd ever need. This looks like his most recent video and I'm going to try a few of these things.

wish I had this a year ago......really a good video for anybody getting files from all over the place.
if your involved in the 3D Can Am proxy this is a must......the Can Am car files come in every condition (rough to great) as we all
learn more and more about making files for slot cars.

Very helpful post. I have Windows 10 and Meshmixer and will definitely be getting the other.
I have tried the remesh function, but didn't like the results so this is pretty helpful.

Although I will say that TinkerCAD allows the embossing function as well...

MeshLab was the one that was news to me, and I played with it. The "smooth" file that Steve sent me was clearly smoothed using the feature Angus talked about in MeshLab.

I'd never heard of 3D Builder until today, it does a pretty good job.

MS 3D builder has a smooth function as well, and it seems to have done an Ok job. The other software I don’t have loaded.........yet.
              Cheers

I've found that 3d builder myself, I smothered out the Alva, and have been able to simplify a file that had to much memory and wouldn't print ! I'll be able to make good use of this!

No Sauber C9. I'm sure I've got the Lancia too and it was too big a file as well. Need a better computer! Just simplified the Maserati gt its printing now .
