I've only got one for the list 917, waiting on some other files from Vlad to make my mind up . I did a test print of 917 and chassis , body's a bit too big to fit the chassis so I'll have to do another one to get things to fit properly .

I've printed the BRM P167 and found some great photos for reference.

By scaling this picture to the same width as my printed bodyshell those are 12mm wide tyres.

Until I draw up a chassis for my preferred sidewinder setup I don't know if 12's will fit, I doubt it, but inline should be possible. 12's will definitely fit in the body though.
Yes it's printed pretty good! I've given the parts a coat of etch primer then a coat of white automotive paint I bought about 10 years ago for a VW camper van I had at the time.

          Hi Rastas,
That is the wrong body for the CanAm.
          This is the early 917-10:

Hi Chappy, ok sorry about that! I thought I had seen footage of the 917 K running in the can am sires on UTube. In that case would you be able to share the Nissan R382 with me thanks?

The proxy is for Group 7 cars.....mostly CanAm although several cars were built in Japan and other places as well.
The Six Hours at Watkins Glen was followed by the CanAm race, and sometimes Group 4/5 sports cars ran in the CanAm as well, which is why people think of them as CanAm cars.....but they aren't Group 7 cars even if they raced with them. The 917-10 is undeniably derived from the 917, but it and the 917-30 were not legal in the same category as the 917Ks.

And yes.....I will send you the Nissan file. 😉

I needed a 3rd hand to hold the body for spraying, this is some expanded plastic foam with a 'V' notch cut out and did the job just fine and took about 15 seconds to make

Nice work, Kevan. Foam is cheap and easy.
For what it's worth.....the addition of the printed exhaust/gearbox/suspension detail is the idea for the extra concours points.

If anyone asks about the pacman shaped thing in front of the guide plate it's a datum block. I use the top surface when necessary and centerline faces to mirror chassis features...I quickly realised I needed a datum. I also draw a wheelbase block to line up the axles.

To those that have printed the Lola T160, what should the overall dimensions be? I found 1:1 dimensions and divided them by 32 but getting some weird measurements...

Ultimate car page says the wheelbase is 2,388 mm which would be 74.6mm in 1/32.
Track dimensions given will be to the centres of the tyre contact patch not overall width.
              Wheelbase / Track (fr/r) 2,388 mm (94 in) / 1,422 mm (56 in) / 1,295 mm (51 in). Wheels (fr/r) 9 x 15 / 14 x 15.
So my reading of that is width across the front wheels would be 51.6mm and 51.6mm across the rears. Obviously not a huge Can-Am monster like some.

              I came up with length 155.575mm , width 57.15mm , Hight 29.6863mm. for the Lola T160.

              Rastas,
You are probably pretty close.....these early cars are much smaller than we think. We are used to pretty Fly cars but they kinda big.

I've not successfully printed a bodyshell on my latest printer, I tried with CF-PETG but the top layers were full of holes and the damned thing kept clogging. A shame really because the finish was superb.
When micro swiss offer a hot end upgrade for the Qidi I'll revisit fdm bodyshells.

What is petg Kevan? can it be smoothed like abs with the vaper trick? I've found that a worn nozzle will clog up ,put a new one in and everything runs smoothly again . It's worth the effort and money.

It's PET with Glycol, hence PETG.

It's a hardened nozzle and only had a few hours work, it definitely won't be worn. After sussing PETG I'd say maybe I wasn't giving it enough room to flow, 0.15mm nozzle to bed works, less than that doesn't always work.

No, you can't vapour smooth petg like abs.
