  • 2020 Trans Am U2 Proxy Round 7 SlotZuka

Race will begin at 6:30 pm this evening. We organized the cars into three groups based on their qual times. This is to not disadvantage faster cars by having a poor handling car taking it out. And it also facilitates race organization, especially if we should experience a computer malfunction during the race.

The slowest group will race first.

A live feed will be available at the Slot Car Addicts of NC Facebook page. ( Ben, why did you have to make that name so long 😆?)

Best of luck to all participants!

Well gents, Round 7 is officially in the books, and the results here at SlotZuka were quite different from results at prior venues. RobNC is still dominating the series and took another first place finish here, besting the second place car by slightly more than 3 full laps. Nice job Robin!

Big Duhg took second place, beating Modernslots by 1/100 of a lap. I believe that's going to move him up to second place in the standings.

Audi1 also had a good finish here. His car was hooking up to give him a 4th place finish, down only about 1/3 lap from the 2nd and 3rd place cars. Nice job Alan!

Mseitz's car also likes this track and he finished 5th, same position as in qualifying.

And Courtney S rolled his Datsun Z car into 6th place, up two positions from qualifying and almost 4 full laps ahead of the next closest non-914 car. I noticed his car had some vibration in its front end and a visual inspection after the race revealed that the front end of the car has a good bit of play in it. I don't know if this amount of play is intended or not.

F1Fan, Aloha, ZackM, and Brumos RSR all moved up 2 positions or more from qualifying. I have to say Zack's Alfa was my favorite car to drive - not the outright quickest, but well-balanced and silky smooth. And a great looking car to boot.

Beast Lee's 914 liked this track better than Woodland Trace or Bent Tree Raceways. The car, although fast, lacks grip, but was getting enough here to move him up 5 places from his 25th place qual.

In all, this was a very enjoyable race. Thanks to all entrants for the opportunity to drive your cars.

It's going to be interesting to see how this will change the standings. Things will be shaken up, particularly at the top.

        Cheers,

        Steve

DocDoom- I thought your car might move up a bit but I believe you placed in the race same as you did in qualifying, so it wasn’t that hateful....

We did have fun and the cars are well built and great to drive. Zack's was unanimous easiest car to drive.

While Big Duhg did move up to 2nd, comparing scoring thru round 6 vs round 7 race results shows they are really pretty consistent overall. However, 2 cars had a great race and 2 not so much.
MSeitz was 11th coming and in finished 5th! Courtney S was 9th coming in and finished 6th!
We had a hard time with our fellow SCANC member's car, and Leadfinger, who was 2nd coming in, placed 7th. Brumos was 6th but placed 11th .

                      Great run guys.

Awesome run for CourtneyS in the Datsun.

Thanks for the compliments on the car, the lead length is so short on that thing I don't think it will ever be the fastest. But for what it is I am happy with it.

Here's your podium from last night - RobNC, Big Duhg and Modernslots. RobNC's car did turn a blistering 5.975 in red last night ( with me driving I'm proud to say!)

The best I could manage in yellow was a 6.018 with Robin's car.

Yeah, a couple of car lengths was enough to move you ahead of Modernslots and along with Leadfinger’s drop to a 7th place finish was enough to move you up two places in the standings. Nice work!
