  • Mugello

With the F1 circus travelling to Mugello this weekend, I am pretty excited...not so much in terms of who may win the race.... but to see a live race on a track that I designed my own routed track from.

Back in 2007 I built my own version of of Mugello, with a bit of artistic license, to mimic the fast, sinewy circuit. I've been very pleased with the track as it lived up to the hype of a fast, flowing track.

So finally get see what F1 looks like on my home track LOL

A few pics of my interpretation....

Thanks. It’s 6’10” at the widest point by 11’9 for the main part which the to side wall (at right of th picture) with a 3’10 by 4’ add-on as the section into corners 1 and 2 at the end of straight (nearest to you in the picture). Lane spacing is the same as Scalextric (3”) with 5-5.5” for the outside apron and 3” for inner apron.

            Great track Tom

I just watched F1 practice 3 on this track and it is AMAZING, the speed and flow together with the elevation changes makes me really looking forward to the weekend's Tuscany GP, what a fantastic setting!

Agree. It’ll be nice to see a new track, plus tire deg issue with the abrasive grip surface that could add some spice to the race.

Looking forward to watching the race this AM. I saw some of the practice yesterday what beautiful track. I can see why you were inspired to build a slot car version. Great job, and looks like a fun track to race on.

That is certainly a very cool looking track although I think I would find it extremely challenging as my coordination and finger control on the trigger is only about 75%.

Just finished watching today’s race. Who knew there would be 2 red flags? But I’m glad there was some passing with all the high speed corners. Cool to see the F1 cars flat out through the Arribiata’s. All 3 of my kids actually sat to watch the race to see the 1:1 in action. The real thing inspired my youngest daughter to run some laps with me afterwards 👍🏻
