    I remember that car running.
Some team complained, maybe Rouche? (Rouche did a lot of whining in the late 90's)
The hump put the spoiler up in the air more giving better down force.
    Nascar outlawed it soon after.

Nice job. Nice memory. Poor John lost his cancer battle this year.

The actual car was a Lincoln Mk VIII, and it never raced in any event, was only tested. The test was due to the Thunderbird being retired soon, and Ford teams were looking at a model to replace it and there also was the fact that Chevy teams had been utterly dominant since the introduction of the 1995 Monte Carlo.
NASCAR gave the team the go ahead, but Ford put their foot down and keboshed the whole thing, not wanting to give Lincoln a "racing image", and later NASCAR allowed Ford to race the 4 door Taurus as a 2 door car, despite there never being a 2 door Taurus offered.
The elevated rear hump would return on the redesigned 2000 Monte Carlo, at the behest of race teams.
