  • Revell 1963 Corvette Grandsport Roadster convertion

I started on a car Im building for a Proxy this week, I am making a roadster out of the Grandsport as Roger Penske did back in the sixtys for SCCA racing.
I started with the Revell 63 Grandsport , Stripped the paint with 91% alcohol and then cut the roof off! I was thinking what I would use for a panel filler as the quarters had a slight curve to them and I saw the roof had a similar curve so I started to cut it up and it worked very well. I still have some bodywork ahead of me but it sure was a time saver.
I also made the new hatch panel for the rear out of styrene. I will update when I move forward with the build
    Thanks for looking, Glenn

I don't know if I could cut up a GS, unless I made a re-pop of it. Really cool looking project, can't wait to see it finished.

Nice work on the project, I did this a few years back, and created a mold for resin copies. I`ve built a few.

O Mark that would have been a hole lot easier for me! LOL if I'm not happy with the results do you sell them?

I have a bunch of extra Monogram Vettes that I was going to repaint and I think I might use your project if you do not mind .

Nope not at all Build Away! defiantly a fun project I have been reading up about the Grand sports in my corvette history books.

I was just going to strip the paint off and do a repaint , but I feel that if I am going to do that might as well jump into the deep end and do a total remodel

Also , can't wait for more pictures on the project , for reference of course . I do not want to just start taking parts off and end up having a basket in my hands so to speak . And has anyone done modifications on a Monogram Cobra . I have a few on them that I have stripped down for repaint .

That looks great Glenn, I have my own GS Sport roadster project hunting me on the bench. What did you use for body filler on the back deck?

I don't seem to have a completed photo handy. Will have to provide those after lunch.

                        Cheers
