  • Track Planning Software

While doing research for my digital transition, I found this software that I went ahead and downloaded and purchased. There’s a few videos on how to use the software. At first I thought the software was going to be in German, but it’s in English. Here’s the link. Hopefully it’s useful to someone.

I have that software also. I liked the fact you could load your track inventory into the data base and then it would diminish the quantity as you designed the track. The final configuration I use on my tack did not “close” on the software, but did in real life. The software wants perfect angles to meet up.

still was happy I purchased and no, Scott I better not pass out the key. Worth a try though.

Good feedback thanks! Giving out keys is not good, people spend lots of time creating, they should be paid for their work.

Any gouge on how much slop between the software solution (distance between the two ends that didn’t “close”) and “real life” is acceptable?

To those of you using this software, what are the computer requirements? Is it a windows based program? Does it work on an iPad?

          thanks.

I use Tracker2000 and assume the Carrera (or any other layout program) would be similar.
The short answer is, it would depend on the total length of the track.

Each track section has some amount of forgiveness, so the more sections of track you have the more of a "mis-match" you can work with to make it connect at the end.
As an example, a 72' Artin 1/32 layout had a 3" overlap in length, and 1" overlap side to side. That layout went together just fine in real life.

Also, the amount of mismatch may have an impact on the bumpiness at the track connections.

I've put together 4 books of slot car track layouts for several 1/32, 1/24, and HO track brands.
They have been selling on Ebay since 2004.
Many of those layouts show a mismatch in the diagrams but they all work just fine in real life.

Just an FYI for anyone interested...unless Carrera has recently made a big change of which I am not aware, they use the same curve geometry as many other brands like Strombecker, Artin (1/32), Monogram, Revell, and Bachman. So the Carrera software would work to make layouts with any of those brands.

I know you still don't have a table to set a track up on, but do you have some layouts in mind? What features are you hoping for in a layout?

                Hey Fathead,
Did you buy "101 Slot Car Track Layouts"?
If so, I really hope you liked it. I'm the guy who wrote those books.
(Since I now outed myself, I really, REALLY hope you liked it! ) lol...
