You should tell them to make this a permanent package. Maybe leave a motor option for general sale. For brass builders this is an ideal set up for inline builds. Would be great to have this package all the time.

I am not familiar with the motor bracket. Does it have bushings? That would be important to include

Agree about SCC. They don’t get all my business, but get a fair share of it. I am thankful they are around.

      Cheers

Hi Dan, Typically, this type of motor bracket (this one included) does not come with bushings/bearings...........any 3/16 x 3/32 single flanged bushing/bearing will fit just fine, and these can be either soldered in, or, you can use "red" locktite.

        I would recommend a "sintered" 3/16 x 3/32 oilite bushing...........SCC has these, part # JKP5571

Good to know, but I see the lack of bushings being a slight oversight on this package. I suppose people have their own preferences for bushings, but no more so then a motor type.

This package is almost a rolling chassis and in my opinion, a set of bushings would be a welcome addition to turn it into a rolling chassis.

I have never used locktite and solder the bushings in place. I am guessing since you recommended red locktite it does a quality job of the task? Might have to give it a try.

Thanks for the feedback and part number.. People now can add the bushings to their order
          Cheers

Dan If you are comfortable with aligning and soldering bushings,...no need to stop now, as it is the most secure method, but does require precision in aligning the bushings.

If you/anyone is hesitant about soldering, red locktite works very well,....it is more than tough enough to handle any of the 1/32 plastic car motors commonly used, and it does give you a bit of time to work with bushing alignment issues, if they arise,....plus it is much less expensive than buying a decent iron/materials , if you do not already have them.

            Cheers

I think Dan's got something. SCC is in the unique position to finally be the vendor that makes a viable, adaptable brass and steel chassis for intermediate builders. Beginners don't need it, experts can manufacture their own, but the vast area in between has to figure things out, buy expensive tools, and without a buddy to show them, just waste a few efforts to get it right.

Look at it this way... when I was in seminary, I majored in Theologies of World Religions, but I had to take some seminary-required subjects to get my Master of Divinity completed. In a class I never intended to take, "Proclamation", (its a bit hard to imagine me in that role-but...), I learned something that preachers and politicians came up with in the 17th Century. 10% of the people will love what you say no matter what. 10% will hate you no matter what. Its the 80% in between that are your audience. Its the same thing. 10% of builders don't need help. 10% don't want help. 80% in between are a likely customer base.

It should be a choice between Anglewinder, Sidewinder, or Inline. There should be a choice between a silver-solder assembly, regular solder assembly, an all brass, or composite material list, adjustable in height and wheelbase, and with a few options for body mount. The main selling point is pre-cut parts. This eliminates at least $300 in tools for the beginner. Of course, replacement parts are to be available, too.

SCC guys, PM me for a phone number. You have it on my account anyway. And it wouldn't hurt to bring Dan in on the think tank, either.

Waay, too many choices make it too complicated.

noddaz, did you read the above? The whole point is to make it generalized. No complication at all.

Whoa! What a great idea! I like it when a vendor caters to our whims.

Why doesn't my car run like that?

*** UPDATE *** The bundles have been updated.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Our new store supports "basic" (repeat "BASIC") product bundling features - one or more products can be defined as a "bundle". Whenever someone purchases a given bundle, the inventory for the associated products is automatically updated. While the underlying concept of a bundle is pretty straightfoward, they can quickly get out-of-hand. For example, the current bundles include PGT tires (since they hookup best on Harry's track). If we were to offer XPG tires, our store's bundle feature does NOT support variants for a given bundle part/item. In other words, we couldn't offer you the choice of a PGT or XPG tire within a single bundle - we would have to have two separate bundles. So instead of the three current bundles, now it doubles to six. And we quickly head down a very slippery slope.

The existing bundles were based on recommendations from Harry. At this point, we are reluctant to add any more bundles. One of the goals for the bundles is to encourage first-time builders to jump in and build a car. Too many choices will only confuse first time builders who might decide to continue sitting on the sidelines. There's also a learning curve on our end packaging and processing the bundles.

With the above in mind and based on the discussion/feedback earlier in this thread, we will add the JKP5571 oilites that Chris mentioned to each of the existing bundles (we'll need to adjust the price accordingly). We'll also include the motor retaining screws.

If these "Version 1.0" bundles are well-received, we'll work to expand on them for future proxy events (not just Harry's). Thank you everyone for your continued support.

Thanks for the updated bundle! The bushings just nicely complete the package. Thanks for listening. As I mentioned this might be a good type of thing to just always have available, Nothing more frustrating then putting in an order, and then two days later realizing you forgot something..........Duh, bushings! Forehead slap.

With a complete bundle available it just makes it easy for us.
