  • Carrera Digital Control Unit 30352 - Tips, Tricks & Observations

This is the place to post any tricks that you have picked up on the Carrera 30352 Control Unit that others might find useful. It can be comments on different levels of firmware or some secret way to turn something on/ off or whatever.

    I'll start with this one

With HSSRMS, when a car runs out of fuel it stops timing and scoring laps in the software.

    - If you plug an 1/8th inch 3.5mm phono plug into the Lap Counter jack on the LH side of the CU the HSSRMS software will time and score all of the laps... It can be a stereo or mono plug - 2 or 3 conductor - can be just a blank plug

These will work from Amazon - or cut one off from your now useless iPhone 6 headphones

It's personal preference on which way you run - I think the penalty for running around slow is enough and I'd rather just count the laps

    SLEEP MODE

Adding another trick - Turning Sleep Mode On & Off - this is copied from Bruce Y on the old HRW forum

"This is- once again- thanks to some German tinkerers.

For those who don't like it when their CU nods off and has to be turned off/on to recover- here's a way to turn off that behavior:

To toggle the state of the CU sleep mode:
Turn the CU off. Wait 5 seconds. Turn the CU on while holding down the 'Fuel' key.
The CU beeps- if it beeps once, sleep mode is off; if it beeps twice, sleep mode is on.

They also suggest doing a CU reset before you toggle the sleep mode. That is done by pressing the ESC key while turning on the CU."

My choice is the maximum penalty. I've won, and lost races playing the fuel gamble. Kinda like in real races when you run out of fuel.

Dave - I race with a couple guys that can miss the pit entrance 3-4 laps in a row ...it's just easier

Added another trick - it's tacked on to the bottom of the first message in the thread - Turning sleep mode on and off

My brother, "Mr Black Box Racer" hates it when he doesn't get "free fuel" during a track call LOL. He also doesn't like to pit lane speed penalty or holding the lane change button down to fuel LOL

I'm with you edmagner It drives me mad that it stops counting laps. I like the slow running penaltly as in principle that is what you do to conserve fuel, its not 100% realistic but good enough for me.

The trick to keep the CU awake is a good feature to know about, thanks for sharing it.
