Carrera has a one year warranty on most items effective from the date of purchase.
To submit a warranty claim send the item, a copy of your receipt and your return mailing info to:

Some dealers will work with you on the defective item - I know that Carreraslots is one dealer that will work with you directly on a warranty issue, so check with your dealer first
Most of the warranty returns I have made have been burned up chips in cars
If you have a car that burned up a chip, it has been acceptable to just send the defective chip in with the receipt. That can be helpful if you have a car that you've put tires on, etc. I just did that a couple of weeks ago and got the replacement chip back today. A chip in a small bubble pack envelope will ship first class for a couple of bucks - easier than sending back the whole car
