Just got my homemade vibratory tumbler running ( third version) to see how it lasts on a continuous run. I was wondering those of you that use them what media do you like and how long do you tumble to get good results
    Thanks in advance Dave !

    Hi Dave,

When you say "vibratory tumbler" I'm not sure what that is. They have vibrators and they have tumblers. I use a tumbler with water and soap in it. I think most people who use a vibrator just run it dry.

I like a ceramic media. They are little round pieces about 3/16" in diameter by about 3/8" long with an angle cut on both ends. A lot of people use walnut shells in a vibrator with no liquid.

Sometimes my parts will look good in about an hour and sometimes it takes three or four hours. Just stop and check them periodically.

Lots of info about vibratory brass cleaning on ammo reloaded websites.

I've been using the same batch of cork bits with a 1/4 bottle of Brasso for over a decade. That's it. Keep it simple. And wash it thoroughly when it comes out. Dry it, degrease with lacquer thinner, and coat it with anything- paint, clear lacquer, whatever.
