American racer, car builder, and team leader Carroll Shelby was born on January 11, 1923. I have many replicas of his team cars on my track in both the Trans Am series and the Le Mans (World Sportscar Championship) series. They are treasures and Shelby has been an icon I respect since I read a book about him in elementary school.
Shelby, along with many top drivers from decades ago, continues to contribute to the 'Endless Summer Racing Series' at Shelby-Hendrix Speedway. Both racing and slot car fans have been blessed by Carroll Shelby's accomplishments.
