    And it's finally happened... Richard Petty just sold off majority interest in his racing organization. 84 years young, I think here's put in more than his share during his lifetime. From what I've read, no news on the status of the iconic #43. I would think the King and NASCAR will probably agree on permanently retiring the number from competition. Just my humble opinion, of course. -- Ernie :>)

    After seeing the thread title, I breathed a sigh of relief opening to read of the sale.

    I was a' feared King Richard's time on this earth had expired.

    There are several icons among my interests that's going to be hard to accept when their time arrives. 😔

        Sorry, guys... I thought most of us keep up on general 1/1 scale racing news!
        Just read that King Richard will NOT be retiring, but will act as chairman of the new company.
        And... they will be running the numbers 43 and 42 for the 2022 NASCAR Cup season and beyond.
        Now... have a nice cool drink of water. -- Ernie
