I worked on another CanAm build last night. Not a proxy car, just a fun car for the collection. It's the early Costello SP7 related to the Rawlson CR10. It's kind of obscure, driven by David Saville Peck in 1973.

I used a modified AW pod from Thingiverse with a mild FC130 for power.

I am trying a printed spur gear since the motor is mild....we will see how long it lasts. I don't have high hopes but who knows?


It took some carving to get everything to fit but I am happy with the stance.


Time to finish the body!

Chasing the obscure subjects is perfect - a perfect use of the technology at hand!

Certain cars will unlikely ever be made in mass quantity as a retail offering - this now allows that.

With so many unique and interesting CanAm monsters to pull from - this is a history that is really ripe for modeling and racing.

The CanAm effort here on the board is just great - really like to see all sorts of interesting historical cars built up!

That's the entire point of the 3DP Gr7 proxy....building cars that aren't otherwise available.

Maserati 151 project , trying for the brushed aluminium look on this one , but its not a show pony so I'm happy enough with the outcome, now the glass!😬

Thanks for your comments, it's a payed file from Cults3d there's two files ones a little different than the other. I've also done a flat wide version of it in 1/24 like a flexy car body to fit a vintage brass wire chassis as a bit of an experiment .

How did you go with your printed wheels, did you get them to print so they will run true?

The printed wheels are actually frighteningly good. Alexis and Slot.It inspired the design and a 3/32 drill bit helps.
They are not permanent like aluminum wheels, but they do work.

Nice work on all these cars! What's the go to for making body mounts? Are you using plastic posts, side pod blocks, bulk heads and how are you attaching the body mounts (glue types)?

I use brass inserts with 2-56 screws, mounted in Evergreen styrene tubing. Use CYA or epoxy to attach to the body.
