  • Porsche 908-3

Well thanks to Vlad's 908-3 file I now have the ability to make a bunch of these

This one is done up in the BARC Rexall fantasy livery that I have been using the last little while

Resin Printed Shell with a FDM printed sidewinder chassis. Wheels were printed in resin, with rubber on the rear tires, sporting a 27 K motor.

I have been working on about 5 cars concurrently with a little learning curve on the FDM printer taking up some time. I have four FDM printed body shells in paint .
3 Italian cars Alfa Ferrari and a Lancia. The other car is another 908-3 The FDM shells printed in PTEG are very tough and light. Just takes some filler and sanding to get them as smooth as the resin printed shells.

So I have been making progress with the FDM printer. I printed out a Porsche 918 in 143 and it was good, so I will print out a 132 scale version and see what happens. Very long print times compared to my Resin Printer. One slice of the 918 was 36 hours at the highest resolution. Not ready for that yet, LOL.

The resin printers are indeed fast.
You will find that FDM bodies are smoother when printed vertically, but it does extend the print times. The 908 is flat enough that it's easy to smooth either way. 31 hrs seems a bit long for such a small car, but if that's 0.04 layer height that would explain it. What weight are you getting in 1/32?

Dang it.....I have a couple of Fly 908s but there are a few liveries I have wanted. I have held off printing this file, because I know that once I start, I will need a fleet. Now I am going to have to scratch that itch.
    Thanks -nimrod- for the file!

Looks good! Had some rough weather and power interruptions but it's safe now to resume printing.
There are three here so far, two more to do with fins. At .06 they take 29 hrs at 15% support- that alone adds 45 min.
It really is a nice file,
Thanks to the Master of the Files,
      Cheers,

This has '3D printed Porsche 908-3 proxy' written all over it!... if/when it happens, count me in and our track here in the Isle of Man is available
Can you please forward a copy of the stl please, I don't like asking, I'd be more than willing to draw up a podded chassis for it and make it available

Can-Am? Think we went down that road and it was decided the Porsches were not Can Am enough as they actively competed in other groupings of races. Would have loved to enter a 908 in the Can Am proxy.

Supposed to represent the 908-03 turbo.

                        There are lots of 908 versions.....do we need a 3DP 908 proxy?
