CG Slotcars Carrera Guide Adapter

A while back I picked up a Devis 3D Designs Carrera guide adapter. I liked the bolt in aspect. Quick, easy, and no glue drying time.
Since they are now sold out, I dropped a line to CG Slotcars enquiring their thoughts on something similar. Lo and behold, they jumped on the idea and had them on the market in record time.
Here’s my installation I did tonight.

The replacement parts. This operation will use the CGGA08 rear mount adapter.


Here's the stock chassis.


Stock parts removed.


Adapter installed.




Included guide ready to install. I was surprised to see M2 holes drilled for securing the leads, so I stripped, tinned, and flattened the ends of the wires that are part of the reversing switch-to-motor harness. M2 screws (not included) secured lead wires.

It's always nice to see something assembled that's not just on my workbench!
It was a good idea - so credit to Devis. Some people will prefer the glue-in ring adapter and some will go this route. I'd like to see the package more complete (screws & braid), so people don't have to dig around in their spare parts - so I'll work on that.
I have used that 3DP guide for 3-4 years now on the cars I build. It should be fine in a Carrera application. You can put the M2 in the front - or down from the top to hold everything in.

Since you put the holes in the front, I just had to try them.
I first saw that trick on another forum. Thanks to you I didn’t have to drill the holes.
All said and done - the conversion was quick and clean.
