  • My Grandsons first scratch built chassis slot car

So last weekend My 12 year old Grandson asked me if I could help him build and paint a 1/25th scale model car he got as a gift. The model is a Revel 1/25 scale 1966 GTO. I told him, Hey why don’t we build a chassis for it and make it a slot car. His answer was, Sure that would be cool! I was so happy and excited he wanted to build one. So here is the progress of the build. This is a learning experience for him and to be able to learn how to use your hands. I just wanted everyone to see that if a 12 year old can put a brass chassis together then so can anyone else. We will be making it into a race car for fun. I will keep progress pictures posted during the entire build process.

I need him to build me a chassis for a 1/25th scale. Let me know his rate and I will order parts. He will need to inscribe the chassis with his initials and give it a serial number.

This was post #904 for me it’s special

Nice job! If he stays with building chassis, he'll only get better, the more he builds. If he chooses to spend his time with sports or something else, that's okay too.

He did a great job building that car, Now it's time to get him a 1/25 model between 59 to 64 so he can send it in to HRW 1/25 Classic Nascar Series- The Land Barge ShowDown.
