  • Cunningham C-4RK [Finished 12/1]

This is a car I have been wanting to build for some time. I found the body on Ebay. I had to use a razor saw and my knife to remove the front and rear windows carefully to save them for masters to use on my vacuum form machine. The body needed a lot of clean up but is looking good. I am going to use a Slot It chassis with some mods. More to come!

Love the Cunninghams. Looks like it will be a great build. Well done saving the glass cut outs - I am impressed with your patience.

A few updates on my progress. I painted the body with some Tamiya white. I masked off the stripes and brush painted them. Not perfect but they look good to me! I am making my own wheel inserts out of sheet plastic and cutting them out with a compass. The chassis is coming along and I have installed a Slot Car Corner "Tuna" motor.

Looks pretty good to me. Once the car is running, it's always harder for me to finish it. Git 'er dun.

Moving along. I have the wheel inserts done. A little one dimensional, but they look the part. Interior is finished. I had finished it up and promptly spilled a bottle of flesh colored paint all over the interior! Luckily it was water based paint and I brought it over to the sink and rinsed it off. I also made the side windows. Thanks for looking!

Whew, it is finally done! A wind deflector was made and added to the hood. I put some tubing in the side exhaust also. Fine mesh screen installed in the grille opening, but hard to see in the pictures. The crazy windshield wiper set up was added from some wipers I had in the spares box. I added some number decals tuned it up and it is a fine runner!

Thanks. Yes they would compliment the Chaparrals nicely!

HO MY GOD! That is great, there is no way you made that car from the resin body. Bet that looks great going down the track.

Thanks Allan. I wish I had more time to run it on your track Sunday.

I wish you had had some time to run it - I didn't even see it come out of the box........unfortunately.

I had meant to comment earlier about the wheel inserts you made--actually a reasonable result for the effort. If you wanted a little more interest/detail it would be a fairly simple matter to cut somewhat triangular sections of thin styrene and glue them radially from the hub out to between the "holes". If you look at pictures of Halibrand wheels from the era you'll see what I'm talking about. Nice job on a neat car. Like Chappyman66 one of my bucket list items is to make a series of Cunningham cars from the Caddies in 1950 through the Corvettes in 1960 and even beyond.
