  • 1960 Plymouth Police Car [FINISHED 6/23]

I have had this old Carrera body hanging around longer then I can remember. It was given to me with the body all sanded and disassembled. I figured it would make a good police car. I am using a modified Artin chassis. Wheels are from a Carrera 57 Chevy. Hubcaps were added to them. Interior is just a piece of plastic sheet with some cut up seats and dashboard from the spares box. I painted the body gloss black and chrome foiled the trim. I have a flashing LED light coming for it to mount on the roof too. More to come.

Looks like something my hero, Deputy Barney Fife, might have driven in Mayberry back in the day.

Some progress done. I made the police officer by using a Carrera driver figure and using the head from a toy police man that was similar too a army man figure. The flashing LED light is installed too. Chassis is finished up and uses a SCC Tuna motor.

That’s so good. You have done a fabulous job on it,. One extr thing you could add is a large ariel. I built a 1961 Plymouth police car with flashing light years ago. Still it’s one of my favourite cars & when people see it they always comment on it over the others.

It is all done! This body was given to me all stripped down and was a Petty stocker. That means there was no taillights. I dug through my parts box and came up with some 1/25 Chrysler 300 lenses. Close enough and I trimmed them with chrome foil. I put a lens over the LED light and painted the lens with Tamiya clear red. The mirror and spotlights are from the spares box. I also made a antenna from a piece of wire. This was a fun build, I wish the chassis didn't hang down so low but it makes for a decent handling car. And the the best part was it was built from parts and pieces I had hanging around other then the flashing light. I will try to make a video of it soon.
