  • Ford Escort Mk. 1 build 2

My Countach build is coming to an end, so starting on the next project, another Ford Escort Mk. 1. Built one last year and feel like doing another, this time in Alan Mann Racing-like (gold/red) colors.

Cast one of my gigantic wheel flared Mk. 1 resin bodies and cut and gathered the usual pieces for my adjust-o-wheelbase chassis that works well for small car builds.

Chassis's rolling with track widths set. Changed front tires to MB Slot low friction ones for a taller sidewall.

Mounted the body with tri-posts, my preference these days.

I have a tendency to always go for a low stance so, fortunately, just one rear wheel arch needed some filing to clear the body.

        Runs good.

On to the paint, driver tray and some modeling detail.

Did a two-tone finish for an Alan Mann Racing look. Sprayed Tamiya TS- 21 Gold, TS-85 Bright Mica Red and covered with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear.

Brush painted modelling detail in black (window trim, grille), silver (grille, head lamps, bonnet pins, trunk hold downs, door handles, gas caps), clear orange (front signal light lenses) and clear red (rear stop light lenses). This always seems to take forever but worth it in the end.

Got a one-piece glass mold (in silicone) but unfortunately have lost access to a vac form machine. Will work something out.

Will apply some decals and prep an interior driver tray in the meantime.

Other than the windscreens, worked out fine.
