  • Monogram/Aurora 1965 GTO

1989 Monogram 1/32 65 GTO Snap-Tite model , same body as the 60's K-B Aurora slot car. MRRC Sebring chasisis, added lights and a Carrera digital chip under the hood, extended the IR diode with leads. The model chassis is cut for and mounted to the Sebring chassis, could of just mounted it directly to the chassis but I like the inner fenders and the more more realistic underbody. The light were easy, just made a hole in each side for the front ones and the rear bumper is molded in red then plated so I figured out that I could scrape the chrome away between the chrome ribs on the tail lights and backlight them, now I got ribbed chrome red tail lights. The paint is the '65 only GM Iris Mist metallic lacquer, Evening Orchid on Chebbies, had to order a little bottle of it from Model Car World and airbrush it. The driver is a Pioneer generic driver, looks just like the Pioneer Bo Duke but has different color clothes.
I think the driver is Mo, is Bo's long lost twin brother, lives with Richie Cunningham's vanished big brother and the missing Brady Bunch dog in a van parked down by the river.

                  Thanks for the compliments.

I've turned four models into slot cars in the last couple of months, I got cabin fever. I never did a slot car conversion and and haven't built a model since '97 so I really appreciate the kind words.
I want to do a the "GeeTo Tiger" GTO next, a Tiger driving a car is cool, I would of paid Pontiac for that job.
The only thing cooler would be Godzilla driving with Rodan riding shotgun.
